Got the polks in, should they sound like this?

I put the mmc 6500 polks in, first set of component speakers for me.

The highs seem to have over powered the subs. I set the crossover at the -3db cause that is where it seemed to sound the best.

Any recomendations on what to do or is this the way it is supposed to be?

The speakers sound decent. Maybe I just need to get used to them.

The polks tend to have a long break in period. I know many are un impressed at first, but give them a week or so and i guarentee you'll think differently of them. Also, it could have something to do with how much power youre running to them.

I had my 6500 set at -3db when I had the 75 w ch amp, put in a 125w ch and had to set them to -6db

so you may want to try -6db...

Amp is a Sony, GT460 i think, which is 60 per, it does have something on it about 600W, I don't remember.

I will set the crossovers at the -6db and give it a go, maybe adjust the gains on the amp also.

Maybe the higher frequencies on your EQ are just way up?

It made some difference, I think it may be something I just need to get used to. I usully listen to rock, Disturbed,Motorhead, old Hair band stuff from the 80's. I put in a Buddy Guy cd and it sounded pretty good. I guess it will take a little playing around with. I haven't gotten to adjusting anything on the amps yet.
