rear speakers sound too bassy!

I swapped out the factory speaker on my truck but the rear speakers have too much bass to them. The front sound great. Wiring is correct. Does anyone know if our trucks come with any sort of filters to the rear speakers I need to remove.

I don't think there is anything to remove.

There are products called Bass Blockers, I know crutchfield has them, all they are are some sort of capacitor or something. I bet someone here can help you out with what you would need to pick up at Radio Shack to make the same thing.

bass blockers filter out predetermined freq levels, thus eliminating certain ranges of bass. There is never such a thing as too much bass as long as its clean tight sound.

well, muffled may be a better word for the problem. I have a regular cab and the speakers are at the bottom on each side. The speakers do not have a clear sound at all.

Any speakers in the rear of a 98 regular cab will sound muffled because of their placement. Put good speakers up front, skip the rears, and add a sub.
