Need suggestions/opinions?

Hey guys.
Over winter I want to start to collect what I need to put a decent system in my truck. I have an 05 Supercab. So far I think I want to go with an Alpine CDA-9857 for the HU. I am not 100% sure on the speakers? I know at some point I would like to get an MTX (Thunderform?) powered sub. I had one in my old truck and I liked it. What about Polk db5250's for the front? Would I want to run those in the rear or go with Polk db570's for the rear? I would like to amp these speakers, so I need suggestions? I like to be able to turn it up here and there, but I dont need people 2 blocks away to hear it.
So give me your suggestions guys. Thanks, Eric

I installed Infinity 6810 cs up front and 6812 in back. They rock when I want, but are very clear. I run these off the HU only. I know they would sound better with an external amp, but for now this works well.

Crutchfield has a deal right now where you get the second pair of speakers half off. Sounds like a good deal?

Yeah, that sounds like a deal, but their stuff is normally retail, so you're not getting a deal on anything else.

The MTX Thunderforms are decent enclosures. I have one in my SCrew. I don't think I'll keep it forever, but I like it. The first thing you need to do is ditch that worthless MTX 4500 sub they put in it. That thing sounds like crap.

Excellent choice on HU. I would recommend Alpine all the way. I have the IVA-W200, and I love it. I've had numerous Alpine decks in the past, and they've NEVER let me down, unlike other companies HU's...

For speakers, I'd step it up and get the Signature Reference Series 6.5's from Polk. Absolutely awesome components. They're right up there with Focal, Rainbow, Morel, and ScanSpeak (actually the tweeters are made by a company called Vifa). They are in the upper-crust of car audio, so they're a bit spendy, but if you look around you can get them for around 500 bucks. Don't waste your money on speaks for the back doors.

Amps... hmmm... I'd say the smartest move with an amp is a good, solid bridgeable 4 channel with decent power handling. You can end up spending quite a bit of money in this area, so choose wisely. You can't go wrong with these companies: JLAudio, Zapco, Alpine (the new PDX amps are amazingly small and versatile).

Hope this helps!

Don
