I think I have an idea as to why they might be different... do you guys that have the harness plugs have the "audiophile" system? or the regular stock system?

I have the factory 6 disc changer with MP3 capability without the factory sub. I'm not sure if it's audiophile or not because I still haven't taken it out because I want to figure out this door thing before I do my complete system install.

Mine was just the regular factory radio single disc player & speakers. No subwoofer included. I was wondering if it had anything to do with maybe one being like a FX4 package or something. My truck is just the basic 2wd XLT 5.4L supercrew. Not sure if there is a difference in them or not.

That's what I'm starting the think it is. I'm thinking that maybe the FX4 package is prewired for the deluxe mirror package or something and this is where the extra wiring (and the plug) comes from for the door. Who know's really, but I've got to figure out exactly where I need to drill because I can't really tell which pins are used and I can't go at the thing with a drill like a freakin crack head that doesn't give a ****.

My understanding is that it has to do with 4Wd vs 2Wd... 4Wd = Plug, 2Wd = no plug.

My 4x4 STX had plugs, so it's nothing to do with FX4.

My 4x4 Lariat has no plugs. Hmmm... could still be 2wd?

My truck wasn't made in KC (I can't remember which plant it was made in though, I already removed the sticker) and it has the plug. Here is my truck info:

Much difference?

Is there much difference in replacing the wire? I have 4 6x8 4 way Pioneer speakers to put into my new 2005 FX4. Is there any guide to taking apart the doors? I have worked with subs before as well as head units, but I never have replaced speakers and instead paid $60~$70 for it to be done for me, but I would like to learn. I do not have a Haynes manual or anything like that yet, but I do intend on obtaining one as well.
