Hey brypink2,
what do recommend for front doors, 5.25, 6.5, or 5x7 in the SLC line, also what the next line down and are they any good, I'm pushing 75W rms to the doors (eclipse ea4000) I have infinity 6812 now, front and back..

sounded good on factory HU, but after putting some power to them they are harsh bright (high) speakers... now it sounds like I have a sub in my truck with 4 tweeters.....

Lots of good brands. Focal, Diamond Audio, Image Dynamics, Zapco, CDT. These are just a few. There are a lot of speakers that will sound really good in the proper install.

Yep, these are all good. I would like to add DLS, Dynaudio and Morel as well to that list. Also, *insert drum roll*...I wasn't impressed with the Zapco components, but I only heard them on a sound board (compared to Focal Utopias and the Dyns). lol

Not one sticker on my truck! Not even Zapco...let alone Rainbow (or a rainbow sticker).

If you want to save a little more money go with the Polk MMC6500 components. Got mine for about $180 new on ebay and they have a 3 year warranty from Polk. I put them in almost two weeks and I like them, I think my hifonics amp is holding them back a little though....

I have heard lots of good things about focal speakers, and I like the way they sound. The rainbow componet sets look amazing, but it just doesnt seem logical that I cannot hear rainbow speakers before I purchase.

What about Kicker componets? I really like the sound! I am impressed with the quality of their subwoofers, are their componets up to par?

Kicker comps are probably mid level comps at best. However, if you like them, thats all that matters. We can recommend all sorts of ways to spend your money but, how it sounds to you is what matters.

Focals are great speakers. I had Focal Utopias in my truck just a few months ago. They had great midbass, but I was disappointed in the tweeter...it got pretty harsh at higher volumes (no matter how I tweaked). Granted this was the TN51 tweeter.

I completely understand about not being able to hear a set of Rainbows. Also remember listening to speakers on a sound board or in someone else's car/truck doesn't mean that's what they will sound like in your truck. It's all dependent on the install and the interior of your truck.

If you are like me...it will be ALOT of trial and error with different speakers, installs, tweaking, etc. But like dconder said...it's what sounds good to you! After all, you are the one that will be listening to it the majority of the time.

Well I'll be a little different and say that CDTs are great especialy comparing prices. They don't quite match the rainbows higher end stuff but they are much easier on the wallet and do sound GREAT. They are a bit power hungry though. The silk tweeter is SUPER smooth and never harsh.
