adding 12" sub

I have been doing a lot of searching over the past week or so and I still have a few questions. I have a 2006 screw and I would like to put a 12" SI mag under the seat. I will add a seat lift to help make this happen. Does anyone know the measurement between the seat and the floor after the seat lift. I am shooting for 1.0 cube displacement but more would be nice. The speaker has a mountig depth of 6.75". In a perfect world I would have 1" for the pole vent and 2" form the floor. So that means I need about 12.75" of space for this thing. Does this seem feasible? I saw where one guy said he fit two of these speakers under his seat. I also thought about maybe having the mounting surface sitting at a slight angle. Any thought or opinions on this project. I have two other options if this one doesn't work out but I would really like to use this speaker. Thanks for the help guys

Brypink is probably who you are thinking of, he fit 2 of them under the seat in his Screw. They are forward firing though, so the seat didnt have to be lifted as much as if he had them downfiring (correct me if Im wrong Bryan)

I think your going to want more than 2 inches to the floor though. When I threw my Mag in my downfiring box, which is 2.25 inches from the floor, that was pushing it and I dont think I would want to go any closer than that. Id try to shoot for 3ish inches.

3 inches from box to floor + 6.75 inches for depth + 1 inch for pole vent + 3/4 inch for wood thickness (top of box) = 11 1/2 inches between seat and floor.

Nice preference of sub too

Thanks for the info. I talked to Nick, the owner of SI, and he told me that he recommends 1" for the pole vent but I could get away with less if I have to. Hopefully before too long I will have the parts for the seat lift and I can start measuring from there. I am going to custom make my own seat lift so I will try to get it about 3" or so. Hopeflly that will be enough. If Brypink could reply with some information and/or pictures that would be great. Thanks everyone.

No problem. Sounds good, good luck with the seat lift.

I will let Bryan know about this thread so he will chime in for sure.

My MAGs are downfiring. It's not the optimal set-up though as far as pole vent clearance...I'm really pushing it. I cut a hole in the top of the box and added a small piece of MDF on top to cover it. That gave me about 3/4" clearance on the high end and 1/2" clearance on the short end. So far so good, but only time will tell.

You need AT LEAST 2.25" clearance from the baffle to the floor. This allows room for the cone and excursion. I also cut out the padding under the carpet (right under the sub) for added clearance.

If you try to put the driver in at an angle you will lose box volume. If you are making your own lift...I think 3" will work just fine.

I'm pulling out my box this weekend to cover it and I'll get the measurements.
