Component Installation
I am ordering some new speakers for my truck sometime next week (2000 Lariat) and am currently undecided over what to get. I know that components in the front will be a better sound, but I don't know if they will fit in the doors. I want to be able to mount both woofer and tweeter in the factory location in the doors. Has anyone done this? the grille is kind of triangle shaped, so maybe there is space in there. I don't want to install tweeters on the dash/pillars as I don't want to have to cut any holes, and also the interior is a tan color and I don't want black tweeters staring me in the face all the time. If the component fits where I want it to, I can then look to spend 3/4 of budget on front speakers, and 1/4 on the rear.
I am looking to get either Infinity Reference 6810cs (front) and Reference 6812 (rear) if the tweeter will fit in the door. Or if it does not fit will be getting 2 sets of Kappa 682.7cf's. Once I figure out what speakers I am getting will then start hunting for an amp (looking at the Infinity 7841a).
So will a 5x7 component (woofer, tweeter and crossover) fit in the factory door location? Thanks.

i no when i did all my speakers in my 02 crew they were 5x7, 6x8. they are both the exact same speakers, the box will say its for 5x7 and 6x8, and its right. itll fit both, so to answer ur question yes, a 5x7 will fit in ur factory speaker spot. the only thing i a unable to answer is the depth of the speakers, youll have to measure that urself. another little piece of advice. your going to need speaker harness. the ford speakers plug right into a harness on the wire. you can either cut these harnesses off, (ill warn you now the wire is very short so its a super bitch to solder) and hardwire the speakers or buy the adapter thing.
