Q-Logic & JL Audio
Q-Logic & JL Audio
Does anyone know if a JL Audio 10W3 will fit in a Q-Logic box for a 06 Supercrew. I know the speaker mounting depth is 5.75 inches. I've searched till my eyes are about to bleed....lol
Just look at the time of this post. I'm going to bed now. Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

According to Crutchfield on this page: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-611rkPC...=044CFTX01#Tab
The mounting depth is 5.8125in. I don't know how they think they can measure it to the 1/10000 of an inch, but whatever. I wouldn't guarantee anything past 5 1/2in personally, but according to their specs 5 3/4 should fit. Also take a look at the recommended box sizes for the sub, I'm pretty sure you'll be suffocating a 10W3 in .65cu ft, but check the manual to be sure. Good Luck.

Ex4me,
That's the exact sub box/sub combo that I'm putting in my '06 Screw. The mounting depth (as stated) looks like it will work. The recommended airspace for the 10w3v2 (according to JL's website) is .625 cu. ft. Since the Q-Logic provides .65 cu. ft., it should be pretty close to ideal.
All I have to do now is decide on an amp before I order everything. Any suggestions? The sub is rated 300W RMS. I'd like to use a multi-channel to push highs AND the sub, if possible.

This is the amp I was going to use. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=256
Here is the response I got from Q-Logic.
The spec's that I have on my enclosure and the spec's on JL Audio's website show that the 10W3v2 will fit and work in this enclosure. I just called a friend of mine at JL to get some more technical info on the woofer. I will send you another e-mail as soon as I hear back from him.
Thank you,

Thanks for your e-mail. I just spoke with the friend of mine at JL Audio. He pulled a woofer out and measured the 10W3v2 at 5.8125" deep. This would be a very tight fit. He suggested a 1/4" spacer ring to space the woofer up just enough to clear the bottom of the enclosure. If you did not want to modify the enclosure, you could go with the JL Audio 10W1v2. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you,

I researched that amp. Looks nice and I LOVE the extremely low THD (very clean). But, I've never considered such a wattage difference from the front to rear speakers. 100W to front and 25W to rear. What do you think about that? I guess you could get some nicer comps for the front and leave factory speakers in the rear. I wonder if it would sound sh***y or drowned out to people sitting in the back, or would the more powerful fronts reach back there enough to compensate?
That SUCKS about the mounting depth, but I'm glad you told me. I don't want to drop down to a W1v2. I don't mind using a spacer, but I wonder if it will affect SQ or the ability to form a tight seal. Anybody know?

This is the setup I plan on using ddhunt3. I know for sure that I'll be using this head unit & the door speakers. Can't make up my mind on the subs for either just the JL Audio Stealth Box or Custom box with 2 10" JL audio subs.
HU- Alpine CDA-9857
Front- JL XR570-CSi
Rear- JL XR570-CXi
Subs- Stealth box or 2 10W3v3's
If I go with 2 subs, I think I'm gonna go with the 500/1 amp.
Stealth box probably the 250/1 amp. (JL recommends this amp in manual)
Door speakers, I think I'll use the JL 300/4.
I think using the 2 seperate amps will give more flexability in the future if I want to change things around. The 500/5 is very nice but I don't want to limit my options for the future if things should change. I sent the tech guys over at JL an email about my setup & asking for some advice & recomendations on the power for it. Hopefully I'll hear something in the next day or so. I'll post back if I get a reply from them.

If you want to stay with a budget, I would suggest these JBL Power Series P8652 for the front & rear doors. Listened to them one day at Tweeter, & I thought they sounded very good for the money. Lot's of bass for such a small speaker even with just power off the Alpine head unit. Everyone hears things differently though, but I thought they sounded better than the Boston Acoustics, Polks or JL Audio speakers. Now these weren't the very high end models like the one's I'll be using. You just can't compare apples to oranges. If I was doing a budget, I'd get these JBL's for the money & the way they sounded.

I agree, JBL is very underrated. Thanks for the recommendation, but, I'll probably spring for some components for the fronts. I'd like to find something in the $200 range. Any recommendations there? I'd also like to find something that doesnt require a ton of time/modification to install. (I'm considering DIY install, if it'll help me get some better stuff for the $)
Did the guy at Q-Logic mention any problems using the 1/4" spacer? Cuz, if not, I may still use the Q-Logic & 10W3v2 setup. How cheap could you find the Q-Logic online?
The setup you mentioned looks awesome! My vote would be for the stealthbox and 250/1. That's what I wanted until the cheapest I could find it around here was $550, plus a ridiculous $125 install. A little pricey for me. I saw where JL recommended the 250/1 and even showed a pic of the gain/crossover settings, etc. to maximize the efficiency for the stealthbox. Saves alot of guesswork.
Also, I don't think you can fit the dual 10W3v3 subs under the seat without a seat lift. Their mounting depth is like 5.93". I haven't found a box with a mounting depth deeper than Q-Logic's (5.8125") without a seat lift.
Keep me posted on what JL recommends and what you end up doing.

Guy from Q-Logic didn't mention anything else about the spacer. Still haven't heard from anyone at JL Audi.
I'm sure they get a ton of email though asking questions.
You can try the JL Audio speakers if ya want to do it yourself. I know the front doors already have spot near the top cut out for a tweeter. This set up will drop right in. Great prices also. They are registered with the Better Business Bureau & also have an Ebay store. Looks pretty legit to me. You can also try http://www.techronics.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=656. Shop around between the two & see who has the best price on what you want. Hope this helps. JL speakers.................. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1904.html

You could also get some more mounting depth by grinding down the box some from the inside. also the Q logic box is deeper than stated in the center... but it less deep than is stated the further you get from the center of the mounting hole. So... basicly the diameter of the magnet on the speaker matters as well as how deep it is. For instance I had a ALUM10Q that wouldnt fit in my Q logic box even though it is less than 5.8" deep. It just has a super wide magnet design... anyway good luck with your installs.
I would also consider a stealth box if you really want to go JL.

And rear seat riders are not considered when setting up a system.
We're all different, though, and simply installing speakers and amps in any fashion is OK, too, as long as it makes the user happy. That's what matters.
Check out my gallery. I have a QLogic box with a Alpine Type R 10 in it and it works just fine. All I had to do is to remove the magnets rubber cap in order to make it fit. The QLogic box can be had on EBay for $150. I would suggest that you spray the inside of the QLogic box with some sort of sound deading spray to eliminate any reasonance.
This is the response I got from Hector at JL Audio.
Hello Wesley, you are on the right track for a great sounding system. The 500/5 amplifier will provide plenty of power and should have no heat related issues. I recommend a Stealthbox enclosure to conserve space and if you have the newer F150, the single ported 10W3v3 enclosure that fits under the rear seat will sound just as loud as two 10W3v2’s in a sealed box.

I just bought a 2006 Ford F-150 Supercrew. Thinking about changing out the factory stereo. Here is the list of components that I was planning on purchasing.
Head Unit- Alpine CDA-9857
Front doors- JL Audio XR570-CSi
Rear doors- JL Audio XR570-CXi
For the subs I was thinking about going with either the JL Stealth box for the Ford Supercrew or either a sealed enclosure with two 10W3v2 subs.
For amplification I was wanting to use the JL Audio 500/5
My questions are, will this amp be enough for my application? Not real sure on which to do about the subs & was looking for some advice straight for the source. If I went with the two 10's would I be better off with single or dual voice coil. Any other suggestion you can give on this set up would be greatly appreciated. I'm not trying to break the SPL record or anything but I do like some low end with my music. This is pretty much my family vehicle for my family with 2 kids. Space is one of my concerns also. Will this amp overheat with what I want to do. I haven't been on the stereo scene now in about 14 years & I'm not really sure what the best is out there right now. I've always been a fan of JL products though & liked their quality.
Any info you can give me would be much gladly appreciated & thanks for your time. Look forward to hearing from you guys. I'm really anxious to start getting this project off the ground. I'll be doing the install myself. Nothing against the guys that work at the shop but I find it much more pleasurable & satisfactory if I do the job myself. I've been to Tweeter now twice this week & told them I would place an order probably next weekend.
Once again, thanks for your time
