Help! Subwoofer problems
Any help I can get would be great.
Let me tell you my set-up first. I have an Eclipse CD/MP3 deck, running two amps off of the head unit (One 4-channel amp to my door speakers, and one Single-Channel amp to my subwoofer.); The subwoofer is a 10'' orion subwoofer in a probox enclosure under the backseat of my 2004 supercrew.
Now to the problem I am having with the subwoofer. The subwoofer works great when it is functioning properly and gives a great sound that fills the cab. The problem is that the subwoofer will cut in and out (randomly) during a song or songs. It does not seem to cut completley out but the subwoofer will just goto about 10% of what it should be producing. The only way to get the full bass back to the subwoofer is to set the equalizer to the POWER or SUPERBASS setting then switch it back to the setting where I normally listen. At this point the subwoofer will function great for awhile. Then at any given moment go back to this 10% state. Only to be fixed by changing the equalizer back to POWER or SUPERBASS then back to where I like it again.
Is there something loose? or a bad connection somewhere?
All the equipment is less than 4 months old and functions great when the subwoofer is cooperating.
Please help me out if you can. Thanks for any help.
PS: The equipment is under warranty and I can take it to the installer and have it looked at. This is what I will do if it is not an easy fix. I would however like to know what I should say to them when I go in to make sure they fix the problem. Thanks again.

Hey Rick,
Doesn't sound like a trivial problem, especially since you didn't install it yourself and probably aren't famaliar with the nuts and bolts. Could be hardware, such as a ground or short somewhere externally on the sub amp, but from how you can fix it by reseting the deck I suspect it's a problem with that deck itself. Either software wise, or possibly a bad connection on the back side of the deck. I'd say that as long as it's doing it often, and the installer can see the problem easlily, they shouldn't have a problem riping things open and fixing it. If it's a more intermittent problem, try to figure out a way to easily duplicate it for them before you take it in. Good luck Rick.
