Q's on fiberglass

I am in the process of building a box for my 04 Reg cab f150, I am using 5/8 MDF but I want to cover it with fiberglass so I can paint it to get a nice clean look. So I just wondering what fiberglass to use. I have done very little fiberglass work, just a few small repairs to my boat so I have resin and hardner and filler laying around the house. But I'm not sure what matting to use and if the West System fiberglass is what everyone else uses or should I use other fiberglass like the bondo or the stuff these use for surfboards. any help will be appreciated.

If you were building the box square and not using glass to form any shapes, than I would suggest sanding it flat, fill any cracks with metal glaze (NOT SPOT PUTTY) and use a high build primer on the wood. Sand than paint.

Absolutely agree. Don't wish upon your self any fiberglass work if you don't need to. Just the headache from the fumes should be enough deterrent not to mention the out come with the above method will be just as good. Carpet would even be better in that it will still look good, cover any imperfections, and help keep the box from sliding around. No mater how heavy it is a smooth painted surface will slide around a bit if not anchored down.

Thank for the tips, I guess I will try going that route and I will have it bolted down once installed. My truck has been broken in twice in the last year.
