bass cancellation issues

I notice that everytime someone opens the passenger side door in my ext cab while I have music playing the bass suddenly hits harder. And the lowest notes have more presence. When the door is shut the low notes almost disappear and the higher ones hit softer but are more boomy. I have a single 10" in a small forward firing box. I tried turning it around and facing it backwards but that made no difference. Would a downfiring box solve this problem? Do any of you with single 10's have this problem? Or did you have it and did you fix it?

welcome to the wonderful world of cabin gain(or lack thereof). almost every vehicle does this. this is why everyone scores higher numbers with the windows down/doors open. I've even seen people trying to crack a sunroof to gain a db or two. I had temporarily installed my old 142+ db 2 10" setup in the truck and I was very disappointed that its wasn't as loud as it used to be in my old hatch. untill I rolled down all the windows. now I need to deal with the horrible roof flex

basically. you gould do what i'm doing tho:

1. rip out back seats
2. install 8 cu ft ported box
3. add 1 18" sub and 2000 clean rms watts
4. enjoy

Just get used to rollin' around with your windows down night or day. the heater is your friend, lol.

My Ranger had 3 JL 12w6v2s in a sealed, downfiring 1.5 inch enclosure with a JL 1000/1 on them and that damn truck would literally set cars alarms off while driving a good 1/8th of a mile away. I honestly think in the year I had that setup maybe 1 car came even close to being as loud (and clean) as mine on the road...

Anyway, firing forward is basically the worst possible way to go. If anything, turn your boc and fire it towards the passenger side, and place the actual woofer/box behind the driver's seat. This will give the longest possible distance for the wavelength to travel before getting back to you.

I feel your pain.

I got one 12 in a reg cab, sealed box firing forward.

Not much I can do about it. Just roll the windows down sometimes.
