I need HELP!!!
I need HELP!!!
I have done almost everything to my 98 ford that is possible as far as appearence and motor wise. Now I am wanting to install a stereo system. My question is,, are Audiobahn subs any good? Alot of people around where I live say they are. I am wanting to put 2 12's behind the seat, but don't want to put alot of money into it. I want either Audiobahn's, or kicker. I saw both of these brands on e-bay and they were cheap, some a little too cheap if ya know what I mean. And what kinda of wattage from the amp am I looking at to get some real thump out of 12's. Thanks.
Audiobahn are great...if you think that new double wide trailer is the epitome of luxury living...
Kicker is a step up, but even mid priced subs like the Sony Explod line are going to give you better boom for the $$$

I'd recommend kicker over sony any day.
Kicker will get you good boom, but there is better out there that can be found for cheap.
Anyway, as far as the amp goes, it depends on the RMS and MAX power handling of the sub. It also depends on the wiring configuration (4 ohm, dual 4 ohm, 2 ohm, etc.)
If you have 2 dual 4-ohm subs, then you'll have 2 basic amp options:

If you have 2 4-ohm subs, then you've got 1 option:

There are always other variations, but these are the basics. What you need to do is pick out 2 subs, figure out the wiring and see what kind of amp you need. Once you've got that, make sure the amp's RMS power is greater than the sub's RMS (continuous) power handling, but less than the sub's MAX power handling. (Compare to the total handling capability of the 2 subs)
Be cautious... many amps advertise their wattage as say 1000 watts for a 4-channel amp, but when you wire it in 2-channel mode, you're only going to get 500. This is due to the change of impedence, so just be careful when looking at advertised power capabilities.

BOTH make good subs.... but they also make pro/better subs for more money! Kicker L7's are crazy loud for 12" and audiobahn makes some that have alot more watts but you just gotta pay the price!
i have mtx thunderbox 2x10 with built in amp and same color box to match inside

Just keep in mind that going "cheap" will certainly give you below par results.. There is a difference between cheap and inexpensive.. It is one thing to design a system on a budget.. another altogether to plan on spending the absolute minimum in money. Think about this before buying anything.. most of the time, stepping up and spending a little more money in certain areas will make the results worth it -
