Sub problem???

So finally got around to putting my avalanche 12 in today and my z9000, and once me and my friend wired everything up, the sub is barely noticeable and has no visible excursion, but you can feel it shake slightly. The amp is getting power, the sub is wired corectly to 4ohms, I used 4 gauage wire from amp to batt and ground. I was the thinking maybe the bolt i chose to ground it isnt close enough to chasis; I have no idea at this point. What are some common problems some of yall have had???

Also on the sub on one side the (-) connector for the coil is cracked but still the 12 guage fits in and it is wired correctly.

Other than that there are no visible wires and overall a clean install, considering this is my first box i made.

Any help is welcome

Stick a DMM on your amps outputs to see if its putting anything out, then we can narrow it down better and see if its your amp, or your sub.

Edit-the sub IS working, its just really quiet? Is that what you are saying?

That is exactly what im saying.

I am thinking that it may be the ground, but thats the typical answer youll hear to any situation like this.

At one point they were all the way up, because it seemed the sub wasnt getting enogh juice, but the power light on the amp was on and the sub was barely audible. Lpf was on, not HPF. I'm confused, lol.

Like Bartak said, check the output on the amp. If it is working properly, sounds like a possibly blown sub to me.

Walmart sells them for about $15. I'm curious about this though, he said he had the gains all the way up and it was still nothing. Hmmm....but you never know.
