Personally, I love the Q logic kicks. This is the first set of them I have ever owned. I was always a little skeptical of putting the speakers that way. But, I have to say: Right now, my truck is the best sounding install I have ever done. And I have done a lot. The front sound stage just sounds awesome. Everything is in front of you and high up on the dash. I never thought these things would be able to do that.

They are a little flimsy but, work good for my 5 1/4. I do not think I would want to put anything heavier in them without some reinforcement. They are an open back design. When mounted it does provide a somewhat sealed but nowhere near totally sealed. To me, it was probably one of the best car audio investments I have ever made.

Cool, I might have to try a set of those. I never thought about the mid size though-can a 6.5 mid fit in there, or only 5.25?

I dont suppose it would be to hard to make them a little sturdier, or even sealed too.

I think maybe a 6" would fit but, a 6.5" would be tricky. What I have heard of doing is cutting out a piece of MDF and mounting a 6.5" mid to it and mount the mdf to the kick. Hard to explain but, it would work.

You mean using the MDF as a spacer betwee the kick and speaker? I can see how that could work. Would depend on the speaker(if it worked or not)

You are exactly correct. The step in the kick does not allow a very big outer mounting area. By using a spacer about the same thickness as the step, it would allow the outer diameter to be bigger. Apparently, you can fit about any 6.5" using this method. I would guess maybe 3/8" or 1/2" MDF without measuring.
