Houston we have a problem...

Man, I hate freakin' problems that slow your progress.

Anyway, I got the 10W7s in the box and put it in the truck. Installed the 9.0 and set the gains w/ a DMM before even hooking up the subs. So, I'm definately not getting a clipped signal.

What I'm getting is some surround/cone noise only on certain freqs when the sub hits. I'm getting this on both of them. When I push the cones in I can hear air suck in and out...so it's gotta be an air leak around the baffle. Hopefully, thats it and some weather stripping will cure the problem.

But...what scares me is when I pushed the cone in (on both subs) I would get some scratching. Although, it wasn't everytime the cone went in and out...only a couple times. So, I think the times it was scratchy I wasn't pushing the cone in straight. We'll see today when I pull them out.

Cross your fingers.

did you use tee-nuts and machine screws to mount the subs?

also my re sx10's would make that VC scratching noise if you didn't push the cone in the right way

Nope, I never did with my past W7s, but I'm heading out the door to go to HD and get some and weather stripping too.

I hoping I just didn't push the cone in straight. I'll find out soon.

ya ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use tee-nuts and machine screws. you cannot get drywall screw touqed near enuff without striping the mdf. trust me it'll be like the best like 5 bucks you will ever spend. you won't even need the weaterstripping if you use tee-nuts

Cool, thanks. Also, I didn't use dywall screws to mount the sub, I used the screws that the W7s came with...the ones used to mount to the shipping baffle. I'm off the get the t-nuts and screws.

Let us know if the tee nuts take care of the air leak. I have been trying to track down an air leak in my Pilot and that could be my problem. Same symptoms, push in on the cone and I hear a blast of air leaking but, can not figure out where it is coming from.

Will do! I just got home from getting the t-nuts and screws. I had to go to 3 different HD and a Lowe's to find them.

I'm off to get this crap done (once and for all). Just wish someone was here to help me pull that darn box out...it's a bit heavy w/ those subs in it. LOL
