What am I thinking...? Two 12's in a '05 SCrew???

That's right, I just drew up the plans for a dual 12 sub box to fit in my '05 SCrew (with the seat lift). Actually, a few different ones with anywhere from 1.25 - 1.5 ft^3 sealed depending on which sub (driver displacement), how far it will stick out from underneath the seat and how much volume lost due to the seat bracket.

Subs I'm looking at:
1. TREO SSi 12.22
2. 12" SI D2
3. IDMAX12D2 V.3
4. 12W6v2

I'm not worried about the amp...I have my Zapco C2K 9.0 to power which ever ones I decide to use.

Why am I doing this? To give me a project to work on, because people say it can't be done, I've always perferred the sound of a 12 over a 10, and the never ending urge to upgrade.

Not sure if I will start it this weekend or the weekend after next (got daughter's out of town soccer tournament next weekend). I'll be heading out to Home Depot and Sears today for supplies and a new saw.

Seeing as you're looking at 12s, Premier makes a 12" sub with a 3-1/4" Mounting depth if you need a shallower sub

No, I don't work for Pioneer I've just had a very good experience with their stuff so far.

In any case, good luck and post some pictures as you go!

2.5" seat lift (pics in my gallery). The 12" IDMAX has a mounting depth of 8.25" (according to their website). This sub poses the biggest challenge to make it fit and probably wont be using this sub.

Thanks for the suggestion, but IMO that sub is no where near in the league of the subs I have listed.

He knows what he's doing. He isnt asking for any suggestions
Simply telling us he's doing to do the impossible and stick an IDMAX under the back seat

I might be able to fit them (IDMAX). I have an idea. I found a grille that can be used with the IDMAX. It's a grille made by Tsunami. I'm trying to find out how far out that sticks out from the baffle. Depending on the size, I can add more mounting depth to the box. It will still be a tight fit, but it just might work.

The IDMAX12D2 V.3 has just been ruled out as a top contender. There's no way I can make it fit w/o lifting the seat higher (which I'm not going to do).

I can not even imagine with that amp and two 12's how loud the interior is going to be. Should be interesting. With that much pressure, will see how tight Ford made the interior that's for sure. You may be worse than I am when it comes to upgrading and changing.

LOL Yep, I hate the upgraditis bug!

I just ruled out the 12W6v2, I'm short a 1/2" only for the needed space for pole vent.

Well, it looks like it's gonna be two TREO SSi 12.22 subs. They have the shallowest mounting depth. I would like to know if there is a grille that will work with them.

well keep me posted, i also am a much bigger fan of 12's then 10's and dont like the idea of using them in my truck. We have the same truck, so if you can make it happen then i would also like to do the same with the same subs, just with the kx2500.1 amp. What does the design of your box look like?

Same basic design...just extending it more underneath the seat (towards the back wall), double checking all the measurements and squeezing any 1/2", 1/4", etc. in that I can. By doing that, I'm going from a 1.6 ft^3 box (the box I'm using now) to a 2.5 ft^3 box.

For the TREO SSi 12.22 subs...that amount of volume gives me somewhere in the .800's for Qtc.

What sucks is, I'm not going to be able to actually start building the box until the weekend after next (2 weeks from now). URRRRGh!

Has anybody ever tried to make a box as a replacement for the seat bottom? (meaning sitting on the box.) I realise it would disable any folding the the seat might do. Put a cushion on top of it and it probably wouldn't be too bad for the passengers unless the bass was crankin
