System for a single cab!
If you buy junk, it will sound like junk. I have learned this lesson the hard way. I would suggest
one of these
http://www.jlaudio.com/amps/2501.html
and one of these
http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/10w3v2.html
put that in a .65 cuft sealed enclosure, firing down. Big bada boom, very high SQ.

you could go w/ pioneer 10s from http://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOTSW256C at $59 each
and run them off this mtx amp
http://www.cardomain.com/item/MTX421D at $159
my friend had a pair of those 10s n it sounded good and you cant beat the price. and mtx amps are well built. there you have it a system for under $300.

Diamond Audio makes good subs. They also have some shallow mount subs if you are tight on space. The 10's are around $125 each. Seriously though, if you are gonna power 2 subs, you'll need to spend a couple hundred on the amp to get enough clean power to them. One sub and a good amp would do though now that I think about it.
