Polk EX357 speakers in an F150 SCAB

I am looking to replace the factory speakers in the front doors. I have managed to blow one of them. Other than sub-bass response I was happy with the factory speakers. I have found the Polk EX357 speakers marked down and am wondering if anyone has heard these installed and how do they sound?

Well, they're going to sound better than stock. You might want to check the POLK db's also. They are mid priced. I have the db's in my 02 Screw and they sound killer.

I recently installed the ex357's in my front doors. They sound great compared to the factory speakers. I'm now looking for a good 40-50 watt amp to hook up for these. I think they need more of a push than the HU can give by itself.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I was hoping to not get into the spiral where I would have to buy an amp, then more speakers, then ...
I suppose they need a bit more power 'cause of the 4 ohms. IIRC Ford drivers are 6 ohms. Probably the case with any speakers other than OEM.

Well I bought some for the front and rear. They fit fine in the front but in the rear the "lense" of the tweeter pushes against the door panel. Fortunately with enough pressure that they shouldn't rattle. If they do I will have to mount them from the rear in the rear doors.
How do they sound? Well, they do have more highs than the factory speakers but, they don't have as much bass. For the price they are fine. As far as efficiency, they are about the same as the original speakers. Now I may indeed have to add a subwoofer though...

Exclamation Polk EX357 speakers in an F150 SCAB

I use four of these with my factory HU, and think they sound GREAT for $30 a set! Way better than stock.

After living with my four EX357 speakers now for several weeks I feel I need to update my opinion of them. After a few weeks of breaking in they sound much better. I have the treble on the stock HU turned down three bars and the bass turned up two bars. They now sound better than the original stock units and though the low end may not be as low as the stock speakers it is tighter and more controlled. As is to be expected with this small of a driver you will still need a subwoofer to give chest thumping bass but for the discontiued price at Crutchfield I am now completely satisfied.

I just bought the EX357's for my 02 S-crew... can't beat $35.99 shipped (from Crutchfield)! I'm glad I heard some good things... can't wait to get them!

I just ordered the polk audio db series from Crutchfield. They have a Buy 1 Get 1 1/2 off, so it was $150 shipped for 2 pair. I'm sure the ex's would have been fine, but I heard nothing but great things about the polk audio db series with the stock HU. I didn't want to regret not just spending the extra $70. Mine get here tomorrow, I will let you guys know how they sound.

Lightbulb

The EX357 and db570 are very similar. The bd's are Polks "new" speaker, and I think that is the main reason they cost double.
