$ 12,000 on my system

Well i decided i needed some bass in my o4 supercab f150 and wanted 2 10's under my rear seat. I went to my local audio shop and basically they said that it would't be as loud as i wanted so he made up a system for me that was way out of what i was goin to pay. A day later i decided on the system, and more importantly the price, including in this system that i will have fit on tuesday of next week is : alpine flip out tv headunit, boston acoustics speakers, 4 jl audio 15 inch subs, 2 1000w jl audio mono amps, 1 500 w jl audio 4 channel amp and neons and all the nice things. Everything will go in the bed and be real flush and clean. The reason for this thread is to find out if i'm getting ripped off ?! please tell me what u think of this kick *** system.

Alpine http://www.crutchfield.com/S-VYJmLbf...h=alpine+audio 2300

JL 1000 mono amps http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewi...iliate=froogle 720x2 1440

BA speakers http://www.tweeter.com/product/index...entPage=family 260x2 520

4 channel amp http://www.tweeter.com/sm-jl-audio-j...i-1219382.html 850

15in JL sub http://www.tweeter.com/sm-jl-audio-1...i-1219378.html 160x4 640

So $5750 just for hardware not including wiring and install so lets say an additional, and I'm going to overshoot the price $250 for wires and $500 for sub box fabrication. So a clean $6500 so a little less than half the price of the equipment for install. Doesn't sound right to me. I would have kicked the guy in the bawls and walked out the door. But then again thats just me

You sure thats not a little more than you want. Go it looking to get 2 10's and walk out with 4 15's and 2,500 watts of power. Maybe you want it, but I would actually say hes a hell of a sales man and sweet talked you into putting a whole lot of money into his pocket.

I would def. not pay that much for that setup. Which model subs where they too?

JL makes good stuff, but its mainstream, your payin alot just for the name on whatever your buying, just like any major mainstream brand, and JL is pretty much the top of that category. Good, but overpriced.

Did you tell him about how loud you wanted it, if not I would say "F you, how would you know its not gonna be loud enough for me".

Everyone is different, but I would say your getin jewed.
If you want it, and want it pro installed etc. go for it if you wanna.

I think you're getting taken for a walk...

Don't worry...I've been there. I just bought some components (JL) outright and am handing it over to an installer who isn't trying to rip me off. Try this guy:

http://stores.ebay.com/dynamicautoso...eNameZl2QQtZkm

He is a certified JL dealer and will back up whatever you buy. My installer isn't a JL dealer, so he contacted the local dealer to see about giving him a decent price...they quoted him full price and wouldn't back down any. So, I bought my JL amp (500/5) and speakers (XR 570-CSi & HR 570-CXi) from the guy with the link above. I called him, he quoted me a price, along with the JL wiring kits, etc. He beat the local dealer by at least $600. He shipped it Friday...I should have it by Wednesday.

The internet is power...use it to your advantage.

Your getting played..... I'd say $7000 tops! and ALL FAB WORK would have to be top notch! Looks like you found a salesman that needs someone to make his mortgage payment for him for a couple of months....

Thanks for all the comments. I ordered basicly all top of the range jl audio products, and that fitting cost $ 3000 mainly because i wanted it in the bed. The whole thing will be fiberglass and plexi glass. I think i'm not getting ripped off because the shop is well known for there workmanship and also there giving me a 5 yr warranty were if anything breaks or gets stollen then they instantly replace. I am happy with the cost and don't think i'm getting ripped but then again its my first system so i would't know. Thanks for the replays also.

I thought I got a good deal..........Audiophile..........$300...

JK, I guess my loss of hearing has left me unable to appreciate an elaborate stereo set-up....or at least my financial advisor (aka wife) won't.

Stereos are my area of expertise (sp?) and I would say that is really a bad deal. Even from an authorized dealer thats kind of up there for what hes selling you. If You want loud bass and are willing to do a blowthrough, which is what you're doing if its going into the bed then you can do it for way way cheaper.

You don't think your getting ripped off so why ask?? Go for it, it's yours or your parents money
