Who want's to road trip to florida and mock an idiot.

I agree with Roushfan-1 that glassing is an artform, but it doesn't take much to become passibly proficient. The real skill is in the finishing; smoothing, sanding, painting and possibly vinyl or leather work.

I just want more specs, like is there going to be extensive metal working and tubing in the bed; I cannot imagine how in the world anyone could spend that much. Quick case in point: My best friend in the world has a higher end GM sports car (can't release too much) that has custom glass work done to seal in one 10W7 (JL audio, just in case someone doesn't know) and an amp rack housing a JL1000 for the sub and a 450 for the components in every stock location. The beauty of everything is since it's a hatchback, that one 10 will murder most stereos around Houston and the glass was laid so well it's almost stock and he can still use the T-top hold downs if he needs.

The point of this story was that due to shopping around and looking at local guys and asking the car scene kids...he got everything for $1400 including the custom fiberglass work. I'm not including his head unit because I honestly cannot remember what the model # is, Kenwood screen unit.

I sure hope you have at least a $2000 security system and maybe even some sort of a bullet proof tonneau cover to protect your wise investment! You might also think about a little extra insurance coverage too. But seriously, have you ever heard of comparison shopping? For 12k, Jessica Simpson had better be the installer and she had better be wearing nothing but a smile! And maybe those boots and that cowboy hat! And Nick can stay at your house while she's doing it!!! I'm just kidding, that wasn't right! She doesn't have to wear the hat!

Dude Jessica Simpson's got a huge ghetto booty. For $12K I'd better see Liv Tyler. Simpon is worth about 20 bucks LOL.

I don't care what anyone says, your getting ripped off even if the whole bed is a fiberglass enclosure but whatever you really don't care what any of us think, which is why you even posted the thread in the first place, right?

What shop in Florida is doing it and where do you live?

Honestly, I don't believe it one bit but please post pictures and prove me wrong.

Just had a friend that was sponsered for stereo shows.
the shop put up the labor and he put up 7'gs.
Long story short, car go stolen only thing left when he came out was the alarm!
That's right, where his prize was sitting was a coke can with his alarm on it.
Don't matter what alarm you have someone knows a way around it!
Oh, Good luck keeping that truck!!
Your the kind of person who will have it broken into at least 10 times in a year.
All for showing off!!!

God man...that's a pretty hefty sum of money for a 16 year old (correct me if i'm wrong). But personally that would be a lot of money on a system for anybody.. Could you please pay for my insurance? Well...all i can say is to take some pictures!

I love when people E-brag and E-dream, and get everyone all excited. This guy either will never show back up on here, or something will always be wrong with his digital camera or his connection...etc..etc.. This is all BS.

just my $.02

I was an installer for 5 years at a high-end shop. I can assure you, $12k is not a hard number to reach if the system is done right. In all of the big($5k-10k and up) systems we did, the customer could plan to spend about 10% of that money on wire/interconnects and extra labor involved in putting said wire in the vehicle. Getting power to the amps and makin' sure the system isn't going to leave you stranded with a dead battery somewhere is something very few people think about. I've heard so many people just look at the price tag and say "F-U" and just walk down the street to the next shop because they quote half the price. However those people don't know what they're getting until it's too late. You get what you pay for. If it's a reputable shop, they quote $12k for a reason. I'm guessing about half of that is just labor. Fiberglas, paint and plexi is expensive......so is the time it takes to make it all go together and look good. Just an installers point of view....
