tweeters and crossovers

I recently installed my alpine sps-171a 6.5 component woofers. I did not install the tweeters or the crossovers until i get my kenwood kac-6201 amp. I do have ?'s about where to put the tweeters and the crossovers though. I was thinkin put the tweeters in the plastic to the left and right of my windshield. I was wondering if anyone had any pics of there tweeter setup. Also the crossover i guess i would put right beside my speakers in the door.
thanks
ryan

I had crossovers under the kick panel until recently. I upgraded my components and the new crossovers are too big. I installed them under and behind the rear seat. Although some people do it, I think you should not install crossovers in the doors.

My reasoning is that if they are mounted somewhere besides in the door, the possibility of something going wrong is less. Like moisture getting to them. And, my current crossovers have a tweeter level and polarity switch on each side, so if I need to "tweak" the sound a little, I don't have to remove a door panel.

Open the glove box. on the right hand side is a nice little space to put the crossovers. As for the tweeters, you may have to position them temporarily here and there until you find your "sweet" spot that sounds best to your ears.

spr_F150 makes a good point about the positioning of the tweeters. I used double-faced tape to position mine until I found just where I wanted them. Then I had to move them slightly because they are flush mount only and I couldn't put them exactly where I wanted. Tweeter placement can be very, check that, IS very critical for best sound at the listener's position, both in terms of soundstage location and imaging. I try to position my speakers to get the effect that I'm at a live show and I'm sitting in front of and slightly below the level of the stage. Some music is useless for this trial and error, but some is great. "Ridin' with the King" by B.B. King and Eric Clapton is great, plus it has my favorite blues number of all time, "Three O'clock Blues". And the SQ is phenomenal.

That is how I have mine setup now. Both left and right crossovers are located in that space in the glove box.

spr that setup works well for you even though the crossover for the left speaker is so far away.
thanks

It works perfectly. Some people mount crossovers under/behind the back seats with amps, etc. then they run the wire to the speakers. I like mine where they are. they are hidden, and are easy to get to if needed.
