anyone running dual 8" woofers??
One of these days my truck will arrive. But I was kicking around the idea of building my own enclosure for the truck. It's an 05 Scab. At first I was thinking the 10" JL stealth box, then I was thinking maybe just a 10w3 and build my own box.
But now my new idea is to buy the Seat kit to raise it up. And build a custom box for 2 8w7's to go in or 2 8w3's. This way the speaker may be able to fire forward instead of into the floor or the bottom of the seat. And the 2 8's would give me more surface area then one 10". What's everyone thoughts on this? I personally am not very keen on the idea of having puny 8's but I'm thinking two 8's compared to one 10 could be a good idea
With the seat rise kit installed what is the total height of the seat? If it's at least 9" then the subs could be installed this way.
8"w7 does require .86 cubic feet each though. Plus the .06 for each sub, so .92 each. Could work.

I am pretty partial to JL. It's the box I am having a hard time with.
I'm pretty sure I want to build my own, and I want to have a front firing box, not up or down. I'm thinking that when I get my truck I will order the seat lift kit. Once that is installed I will make a scrap box so I can figure out how much volume I can get for two seperate boxes, from there I will go with either the 8w7 or the 8w3. Hopefully the 8w7's since I will get more umphhh out of them. Probably drive them with a JL 500.1 amp (either speaker option).
I'm just curious as to how the 2 8's would compare to one 10 of the same family. w3 or w7, from my research the 2 8's would be louder, cleaner, and hit a hair harder. Any insight?

2 10's in a box under scab rear
box came from subbox.net..750 watt alpine class d (more like 400) but hits pretty hard, gets low too i was surprised!! only limit is depth of speaker...had to run some cheap blaupunkts out of crutchfield but still impressed !!
do you guys have pics of your installs? I really don't want to have the sub fire up or down.

04 supercrew i'm fired down and i built my own boxes w/2-10"fosgates (it pounds hard) 2 seperate boxes thats nice because you can allways take one out if need be and no one from the outside knows any different.2 fosgate amps and a eq stock deck (i got tired of those damnnn thieves steeling my system because they saw my deck) now its in hide it all mode. oh yeh infinity perf mids/tweets ill take pic later and post. M.W.
I am going to get the truck before I make my decision. I will definetally go ahead and buy the lift for the seat. From there figure out where to go. My two choices are dual 8w7's firing forward, or space deciding, dual 10w3's firing down.
Speaker model wise, I stay with JL, I know there is more options for less, but I get a pretty sweet discount on JL from my buddy, so I stay with JL. He would probably disown our friendship if he saw me running something else.
I'd like to see all of your pics, and from them come up with a plan for mine. I definetally want dual chambers, don't need dual enclosures. Once they are in, they aren't coming out.
