Subwoofer enclosure

Looks like Im going to have to custom build a new sub enclosure. The one I have is depriving. It fits under the backseat of my 2001 F150 XLT.
The reason I say its depriving, is, of course, because of the limited airspace. There isnt exactly a plethera of space underneath the 60/40 bench seat.
My ordeal is, Im considering removing the " 40 " seat and putting an enclosure in its place.
Only Im not sure what type of wood to use. I want to go to Home Depot or Lowes, and be able to purchase the wood. I have all the tools, exterior material and sealant, I just dont know what kind of wood will be optimal.
Thanks.

3/4" MDF(medium density fiberboard). I've bought it several times at Home Depot.

Yup, you can get it pretty much anywhere. Usually comes in 4x8 sheets.

hey Dizzead,

I've got a JL Audio Stealthbox for sale that should fit your truck. It's only a year old. I had it in my 2000 F-150 ext cab. It should fit your truck as well. I bought a new truck and unfortunately it won't fit.

Only asking $225. It's a great sounding sub. Single 10" sub.

Fits perfectly under the rear passenger seat.

Let me know if you're intrested.

Hey instead of removing the 40 split seat just buy a lift kit for your back seat. I got one on ebay for $45.00. Would suggest just making your own though. The one i bought was suppose to be for a 97 to a 99. Did not fit my truck. Had to redrill holes and rebend the center bracket to make it fit. Just use 4" channel iron. I now have enough room to put my Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2's under there.

DaFordFreak - Do you have any pics or an exact description of your seat lift kit? I'm hoping to (finally!) finish messing with my own sub box installation this weekend and would like to know what others have done for the seat lift/seat belt extension.
