what size will fit 5.25"? 6.5"? 8"?

99.9 percent sure they are 5.25

Any component system you get for 35 bucks will most likely be
*****. Since your upgrading, do it right the first time, spend some more money and get quality stuff. As cgorris said it to me once, see it as saving 35 bucks, since you will most likely want to upgrade to something better later, and there 35 bucks is gone that you could have used on a better set if you would have got them the first time.

yes, i think longevity would suffer but some ofthe midrange stuff sounds pretty good. just moght not last long

True. I dont think its possible to make a speaker crappier or of equivalent crappiness as the stock ones
