Seat lift kits - Does anybody have pics/designs?

I'm trying to finish off the stereo upgrade project in my '99 SuperCab and a pair of 10" subs under the rear seat is the last large item.

I'm tempted to build my own box but it seems that the only way to get more than a 1 cubic foot enclosure wedged in there is to go with a seat lift kit.

I realize that companies like JCWhitney and LMI sell seat lift kits, but they're around $100. That seems like an awfully stiff price for a couple of metal brackets. Especially when I see companies like musicmoose include a 2" seat lift kit along with the box for $150 shipped.

Does anybody have some good pics or instructions on how to fabricate these brackets? Also, I've seen pics/plans of boxes that totally eliminate the split bench center bracket. Is this safe in event of a crash?

Any other thoughts or suggestions along these lines would be appreciated as well.
