Audiophile Sub Question

I've read on this forum that some trucks are pre-wired for the audiophile sub and some are not. I want to add the audiophile sub to my truck, but can't seem to find the plug. I found an opening in the carpet where I think the plug should come through and have stuck my fingers in and felt around with no luck. If your truck is pre-wired, how hard is it to find the plug? Is it under the carpet?

its usually under the carpet. If not, the wire/plug assembly is relatively cheap at the dealer....$30

I ahd a friend wire his this way, and simply ran it aroudn the kick panels up to his deck...took him about 30 mins to do it

One other question...

Does this wire/plug assembly plug directly into the amp or is there a "pigtail" from the amp to this plug?

Thanks,

Fordnoobie,
I also have an FX4 Supercrew. May I ask you where this opening is for the sub/amp? I also want to find out if my FX4 has been pre-wired.

Thanks,

axe124,

Open the driver side rear door. Flip the rear seat up. There is a metal bracket at each end of the seat that the seat rests on. These brackets are what the sub/amp mount to. There is an L-shaped cut in the carpet next to the bracket closest to the driver side rear door. I'm assuming this is where the sub/amp wiring would come through. I will be at the dealership this weekend and will look at a supercrew with the audiophile option to confirm.

Fordnoobie,
Thanks for the speedy response. I found the hole, but only could reach with my finger a little bit. I did not find any wires. How far down would they be? Have you decided on what kind of system you are going with yet? Not sure if I should upgrade to the audiophile system, or just upgrade my sreakers, and maybe an amp. Whats your opinion?

axe124,

I was planning on installing the audiophile system because I want it to be all stock. That way I wouldn't have to rip it out when it came time to sell the truck.

Would anyone happen to know the part number for the wire/plug assembly that runs from the head unit to the sub/amp? My local dealer can't seem to figure out how to order this harness.

Thanks,

Talking

I HAVE THE AUDIOPHILE HU AND DOOR SPEAKERS (W/TWEETERS) AND SUB ON THE WAY TO MY HOUSE. I AM GOING TO INSTALL THIS WEEKEND. I WAS TOLD THAT THE HARNESS I NEED IS
71-5520-1 OR 70-5520. IF YOU SEARCH FOR FORD HARNESS WITH THESE PART NUMBERS ON MSN THE AVAILABLE SITES WILL SHOW UP. I WILL LET ALL KNOW HOW IT WENT. I DO HAVE A PLUG TAPED TO THE DASH BEHIND MY CURRNET HU, BUT I THINK IT IS FOR A DVD CONNECTION. CAN ANYBODY HELP WITH THIS QUESTION. I ALSO FOUND THE HOLE IN THE CARPET BUT NO PLUG THERE THAT I CAN SEE. I HAVE A 04 SCREW.

Connector 71-5520-1 will plug into the head unit. You still need a connector to plug into the sub/amp. I have a copy of the wiring diagram which has a connector number (C3020), but the local dealer says this is a reference number only and he can only order the connector if he has the part number. If I knew this part number, I would order the connector and make my own wiring harness.

I Believe the part number you are looking for is 3U2Z-14S411-CAAA, I got it from Oemfordparts.com. could I also get a copy of the layout.

Wiring Harness

Hey, if someone comes up with the information on this wiring harness, I would be interested in getting one. I just purchased a F150 Audiophile Subwoofer from EBay and will need one to hook it up. I upgraded the one CD player that came with my truck with a 6 CD player and there seems to be an empty socket on the back of it for the Amp but I can't find a plug under the seat either. Please let me know if anyone comes up with the answer.

I went to Oemfordparts.com and did a search for the part number you supplied but it came back as "No Match". Are you sure that is the right part number? Thanks!!

Wiring Harness

If you send them an e-mail question a quote for the parts they will send it back. I had to do that, the parts are two new in the system.
