Question Kicker Solo-Baric L7

I saw an advertisement for the new Kicker Solo-Baric L7 square subwoofers. I was wondering if anyone has heard them and if so are they pretty nice?

They are expensive and they suck.

The only type of bass you get from them is on the higher end. No pounding or rumbling.

Get a set of Rockford Punch DVC's 10 or 12's. And make sure they are the Punch series DVC's

I just noticed that reply and almost fell out of my seat laughing! Have you even heard the L7's, or are you a secret marketing rep for Rockford? If so , was the box made of balsa or kitchen paneling or something? I'm not saying hey are the geatest subs in the world, but before you try to take advise on something like speakers , try going to a shop to listen to some first hand . You are your best critic . Before I throw down hard earned loot , I wanna hear em' . If the shop can't demo anything , keep on rollin !
As for Rockford , ....nice but the are priced just as high as the L7's. The Kickers do offer something the RF's don't , and that is a new freedom of design on the enclosure . Plus you can have alot more cone movement than a conventional sub!
Dude , travel and listen . Dont take someone else's advise on how something sounds(he could be tone def and think he can sing also !)

I agree go listen for your self...I have heard one bad "rumor" and thats all it is a "rumor" the square design goes against conventional design and the L7's are tearing them selves appart.I have not seen this myself but the advice I was given was to just wait a year or so till the bugs are worked out.I was going to go with them myself but chose the Boston Competition series instead. Good luck and trust your ears

I know a guy who has two ten's facing towards the back of his trunk in a car and My three ten hit alot harder and tighter. They look cool but there a waste of time. They sounded ok but for what else is out there you can do better and cheaper.

SVT-snake - go find them somewhere and decide for yourself, thats the best way. Your own personal trial and error, what may work for you may not work for someone else. I would personaly wait til the out for some more time to perfect it like BigBlackL-Bolt said.

rtkilla - no offense but generally 3 tens will hit harder then 2 tens, so it's not really good to compare

Rockford Fosgate is too expensive? I don't know where you guys shop, but they are not overpriced. I am an RF dealer and have been impressed with their price cuts. $50-$60 for a 12" Punch XLC and 12" Power DVC's for less than $100. If I were you guys, I would go with Audiobahn though. They are getting larger, they are inexpensive, and their woofers are top notch. VEGA, RF, and Audiobahn are my top 3 picks (of course mmats blows them all away.) I've got 2 15" Vega Strokers in my living room attached to my home theater system. All I have to say is WOW!!

I Just got me a '98 reg cab.- nubbin it!
and i am definitely gonna try to squeeze my 12" Solo-Baric in somewhere!!! lemme tell you. I previously owned a 91 EscortGT. I had a Kenwood cass. flip-face w/ Kenwood 10-disc cd changer. Kicker sattelites and 6 1/2" mids. Kicker DX350 Amp.-350watts, Kicker 12" Solo-Baric (square) and a Kicker KQ5 crossover. My god!, most of the time I had no bass on the deck, gain on the amp turned up to an eighth and the crossover at 0!!!
To make a long story short, I am definitely impressed with the sound quality of the Solo-Barics!

In this day an age I don't think one can say that a specific brand subwoofer is better then another. They all make there cheaper model and a more expensive model. I have seen on a meter 2 L12's hit 148db with one Earthquake PHD2. I hit 152 with 4 cheaper Audiobahn 10's and 1 Audiobahn 1300HC amp. I also got about the same with 4 RF's and a RF amp. I get to try out alot of products and all the Co's make a good product and PRICE is always a factor (you get what you pay for) Boston makes an excellent sub but they are not very good for SPL but SQ they kick ***. DVC of SVC makes no difference but on how you want to ohm load up the amp. I can run an Audiobahn HC amp down to a 1/2ohm load and abuse the amp a bit but the power is great. I usually try not to run under 1 ohm load. Buy what's on the budget and try to get an in vehicle demo and get what you think sounds the best.

I personally love my Perfect 12"...I had a S12D4(round solo) in my 88 Mustang and loved it, but I don't think it would hold a candle to this Perfect...Just my opinion..

I have in line right now 3 8inL7's that I'm building a box for. And a pair of Audiobahn 1805's with an Earthquake PHD2 amp to move them, that should be thrilling.......

The only problem I have heard of from the L7's are that they hit so hard they are blowing boxes apart, but kicker has come out with a way to fix that.
