Cool Sub boxes Vented or Sealed?

Which is better Vented box or Sealed box?
I've been told that vented is more efficient but sealed gives a tighter bass.

Which MTX sub are you using?
Are you using one or two?
How much airspace do you have in the box?
Did you buy the box premade or build it yourself?
I am having a hard time finding a premade box short enough to clear the ledge.

Okay, MTX Blue Thunder 10''. One. Premade, I got from Circuit City, Q-Logic.
0.6 Cubic Feet. Fits fine behind either seat. I'm 5/10 and wear a 10.5 shoe

Thanks for the info.
Did you have to move your seat up much?

54regcab, I see your still testing the waters on getting that sub for your truck.
Why don't you just buy my Bazooka 8" and Clarion amp, and you'll won't have to ask all these questions.............also you can take the money you have saved and put it on a new toy.......Just in fun.....10-4...dogcam

I agree about the Bazooka's performance. I've had both the amplified and non-amplified versions in my past Rangers and present F-150, by the way I have two 8" non-amplified tubes for sale for $40/pair. Co-incidence, I swear!

WOW $40.00 a pair.
Is there anything wrong with them?
How much did you have to move the seat up to get them to fit?
That is my main hesitation on the tubes.
Big guy need all the room I can get.

54regcab,

I had a single 8" Bazooka in my last truck which was a regular cab. It sounded great.

Two amps???? I saw your other thread RE : crossovers etc. Another amp would solve your problem.

However, if I remember right. I powered the components off of the deck and used the amp for the Bazooka. I used a coil to eliminate the highs........

54, They're scratched on the outside, but sound good. They fit behind the seat no problem. But they might be 6.5's, rather than eights (sound great, more room, sorry about the mix-up). If you're still interested, let me know and I'll e-mail you too.

Ok ... this is an idiots question so bear with me ... a powered bazooka in the center behind the seat of a S Cab? All you have to do is parallel the rear speakers and run a power line (power antenna lead?) to the sub unit? An 8" fits? Thanks.

Just a thought...

Has anybody tried to put a 6.5" Bazooka inside the center console? This would be a supercab w/ captains chairs. Would one 6.5" Bazooka give the same type of response that a single 8" driver would?

JSCOTT, your question on a 6.5 Bazooka vs a 8", go with the 8" i've been thru 6.5 and the older 6" slaved and unslaved.(both have a history to blow)
Hook up a good amp !00 watts (apprx) to a 8" (RS) (unslaved) and it will rock & roll.

Looking for one, e-mail me if you would like a almost new (new under warranty) 8"RS Bazooka and Alpine amp 97 model yr.

Prowler, Your question on the powered Bazookas, all you'll need is a power cord from the battery (fused) and that is supplied with the slaved Bazookas and a patch cord is also supplied that will let you splice into any of your speaker wires ( you'll have to know which is + and - and a switch or **** on the back of the Bazooka turned to auto, so when your radio is turned on and a signal goes to your speaker, which your patched into, the bazooka turns its self on automatically....
I believe Crutchfield sends a complete hookup wire and patch cord with our order, if not they run about $10.00.
Ask for Ringo if you call Crutchfield, he's up to date on all Bazooka info.......Dogcam
any questions, e-mail me....
