Help on a '98 Ext Cab
Sheez, some people. I was being sarcastic about the hearing sophistication BS. I will do what I want, as it is my truck. I bought new front speakers, and moved the old fronts to the rear. The Infinitys sound incredible, and the tweeters are pointing to the correct location that sounds good for me. The rears are not blaring over the top of the fronts, they simply bridge the gap between the sub and front, which is a big noticable gap, at least to me. The rears also have horrible placement, and the rear passengers might want to hear the mids and highs too IMO. If I could put my sub in the front, I would. Since that is not going to happen, it goes where it will fit. If I had 8 inch midbass speakers in the kick panels pointing at my knees, I might not notice it either. The sub fires down, and thumps pretty good. With only the front door speakers and sub going, it sounds like the bass player is behind me, which would not happen in real life of course. It sounds awesome to me as it is set up. I'm sorry I riled you up.,,,,98

I've been around long enough that I don't get "riled" when someone disagrees with me, especially when what they say is their personal preference. But, most times, a person's personal preference is based only on what they have experienced. Chances are if you had experienced a quality speaker system set up PROPERLY in the front stage, you could appreciate what I'm saying. Maybe not. But, I also clearly stated in my first reply that in spite of what I was saying, people should do what makes them happy. The only reason I replied the second time was because of the "rumor" remark. That and your comments about soundstage and imaging being a "living room" and "5.1 receiver" thing let me know all I needed to about your knowledge of the matter. Sheez, some people just aren't open to learning new things, I guess.

My point was that vehicles are quite possibly the most difficult enviroment to turn into a "perfect" soundstage, without heavily altering some things. The average person doesn't have the time or knowledge(your word) to attempt such a thing. Alot of them are lease vehicles, which you simply cannot do major alterations to, if any. Getting a decent sounding system is not too hard. Put some components in the front, aim the tweeters correctly, and you've got an enjoyable system. I leave the soundstaging to 200K sema mobiles.
All he wanted to do was put some speakers in his truck? Why do you feel it necessary to belittle people who don't want to do it your way?

I apologize to anyone I may have "belittled" in my replies to this thread. I foolishly was under the impression that one could feel free to pass on information, and then the readers could determine whether they felt it was USEFUL for their situation or not. I realize most people don't want to bother with setting up a system for soundstage and imaging. It takes too much time and trouble, more than it does expense. I have a 21 year old son, so I know all about impatience. But, I don't believe I ever told anyone they MUST do what I said. In fact, as I pointed out more than once, each person should do what they want and are happy with. And, 98SCREAMER, I doubt that you are the only person reading this thread. Maybe some people are glad to pick up a thing or two along the way, even if they can't put it into their arsenal, now or ever.
Left Rear Speaker Help
noirluispher,
I am starting a project to replace the speakers on my 98. I see that you said that you were able to do it. Did you find the instructions on the web?
If you did can you say where. I can't find anything
