Opinions on Setup

Just purchased an '00 Extended Cab F150. The truck has an Alpine head unit, but all else is stock.. Here's the scoop.. I want to have this sound better, but not to the point of spending a huge wad of money on it (been there, done that in the past)..

I was thinking of replacing the stock speakers all the way around w/ Infinity Reference 6802cf speakers.. my question is, will I increase the sound quality greatly by only adding these, or will I also need to add an amp?

THe speakers (w/ installation) will only be about $180 - $200.. don't want to go 'too' much above that..

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Wayne

What you want to do will help the sound quality.

Adding an amp will be even better. Much cleaner sound.

Adding a small 8" or 10" sub and small amp would add that little more thump as well.

Speaker upgrade...

Without a doubt the upgrade that your are doing will increase both sound quality and give you a greater sound level... This is dur to the sensitivity level of the Infinities they are the best upgrade you can make with no amp systems.. Great Choice...

Cool

Hey Wayne,
I did the EXACT same thing you did. Started with Kenwood HU, than added Infinity Reference 5x7's all around, finally added the amp. The whole process took about 5 months.
Good thing is I got to hear the difference in sound quality at each stage.
I think Infinity Reference are the best "Bang for the Buck" in the price range they are in.
Enjoy!
