RE8 or Kicker

I am looking to put one 8 in my supercrew. I want to get the most bang but am not looking for major thump. Do you guys recommend a re8 which I heard about here and they seem awesome or one of the new kicker solobarics. An out of loop bass head needs help.

Well, imho, its a little hard to compare. Price wise these are pretty different. Cost, power handling, etc.

I myself had two re8's in a 1 cu ft enclosure, tuned at about 32-33 with rated rms which is 175 w going to each. Very good sound with a hard enough thump for most people. However, the l7 and l5 solo's with the right box and power should sound good and get loud as well.

Guess it all depends on how much you want to spend.

Well, I am not too worried about price too much. I tend to be fairly thrifty when it comes to finding what I want. I really want something that will sound good and produce the best bass for that small of a sub. The main concern I am working with is size because I want a small box behind a supecrew seat. I will only be doing one re8 or one solo baric 8inch. I am hoping someone has had experince with one or both and can give me a comparison. Do these subs have the potential to sound like one decent 10?
Thanks for yours and anyones help and opinions.

I have a 2001 screw
The reason for behind the rear seat is to be able to put my seats down whenever and wherever I want without having to worry about a speaker box. I know I know I want the best of both worlds. Don't we all. I can't find the gallery but you guys may have seen the guy with an Fogate 8 that he put by cutting into his plastic behind the seat and mounting a box. That is my inspiration here.

I have owned Fosgate subs in the past, not an 8'' though. Good subs, but I can tell you that the RE8 is one hell of an 8'' sub. Proberly not the best 8'' on the market, but it's up there. Now the fact that it's only $50 is only a bonus. With the right install, both would work fine, but I'd have to lean more to the RE8s only because I have them and can say that they surprised the hell out of me once installed.

The smallest solobaric you can get is a 10, isn't it? Anyway, I would mind having one of those behind my seat.

decision

All right guys I have decided to go with one re8 and I want to try and squeeze it under the front passenger seat. After thinking about it I want to try and avoid cutting or permanently change anything. What do you guys think of these specs

width-9inches
length-12 inches
height-4 and half inches
sealed
all 1/2 mdf which should give me cu ft of .281

I don't think that you can fit a speaker under the front passenger seat.

I have a box from proboxrocks.com that fits underneath the back seat on the drivers side. I had them make it for a single 8" woofer because I didn't want too much bass, but I wanted a quality sound system that could deliver the music the way that it is meant to be heard. I have a kicker compVR sub with a kicker amp and I think it sounds good. It is not overwhelming and I am pretty sure that you can't hear me coming down the road, but anyone that rides in the truck will definitely know it is there if I turn it up.

The seat in the back will still go down far enough for me to access the storage area in the back. I don't ever have a reason to lay the seats down in the back considering that if I need to haul something, I throw it in the bed of the truck.

I will be more than happy to post pictures of my setup for anyone to see, just let me know.

Jeremy
