speaker wire gauge
speaker wire gauge
I am getting ready to put in a new system. I going with an Alpine HU with Infinity Kappa componets in front and Kappa 5X7's in rear. Powering both with a 4ch Audiobahn A600T (75 X 4). What I am struggling with is the gauge of speaker wire that I should use. I don't mind spending a little more if it make a difference. I bought a Rockford fosgate duel amp kit that came with 16 awg 65strand speaker wire. I was thinking about getting 12 gage moster cable speaker wire ($1.00 / ft) but I am not sure if that may be to heavy.
What do you guys think?
I used a search and could not find any past threads

Brand name (aka cool looking) 12awg is only $.45/ft online. The thicker wire will give you less of a voltage drop (rather insignificant) but more importantly it will keep your damping factor up.
I use Carol Command Studio 12awg which is silver clad. It matches my Select Product Definition II RCAs in its blue color and in the use of silver as a conductor.

That chart is for power cables, not speaker wire.
