10" sub - 99 Scab ?'s

This weekend I am installing an Alpine TypeR 10" Dual VC sub under the rear seat. A sealed box will need to be 0.6-1.25 cuibic feet with a 12" long, 3" wide port. Mounting depth is 5 15/16 for a top mount and bottom mount 6 7/16 (although I don't know the difference between the two).

I am guessing I need to raise hte seat about 2" to make things fit. Anyone that has pics of a Scab box or dimensions of a box for a deep sub would be most appreciated. After searching, it doesn't appear that there are a ton of custom Scab boxes out there.

Thanks for your help!

Jon

Ok - here are the external dimensions for a 10" sub, sealed box, 1.12 cubic feet that fits under the seat. You will need to raise the rear seat 3" for this to work. The box can also be ported, depending on speaker specs...

Width - 30"
Depth - 12"
Height - 8"

The box is a perfect rectangle with a 1.5" leg on the outside. It is made with 3/4" MDF and is strong enough to support the center of the seat.

Pics to follow...

i was told by a local car audio store that you cant raise (or at least they didnt know how) a 99' supercab rear seat because of that big metal piece under the seat. how would you go about doing this

I raised my rear seat of my 99 supercab by 2" using 1 1/2 x 1 1/2" steel stock and cut them 2" high. I painted them black, got some longer bolts, and used them as risers. I couldn't use the back braces because when you raise the seat, you have to cheat the seat foward, so the back bolts did not line up. As it is, I have 6 bolts holding in the back seat instead of 8. It holds great though

I will post pics of the bracket this morning. Basically, it consists of some angle iron, c-channel stock and some welding. The two ends will be raised, the center is supported by the box itself (although it can be raised as well)
