seat lift for 1998

I was wondering if anyone can help me? I am wanting to lift my seat up so I can fit 2 10" subs, but I have looked all over and I can't seem to find the lift brackets.IF I can't get the brackets could I possibly mount a sub in the drivers rear door in that pocket beside the bench?

Daniel,
You can build a box to replace the brackets and house the subs. I am doing the same thing now. The outside of the box will be framed with metal for extra support. The seat will mount right to the new box, with the subs firing back and down.

This is the only company I can think of that makes a lift kit, but it's a total bill beating. You could either make your own box and lift like mentioned above, or go to proboxrocks.com and order a box from them.

I purchased my box from them and love it. It was $200 after shipping I think.

Thanks alot for your suggestions, I am going to have to wing it because my wallet isn't as fat as it used to be. So do you build the box around the brackets or get rid of them and have the seat sit on top of the box?

Daniel,

I bought a 6.5 bass tube for the back and it didn't fit. So I took 1 1/2"x 1 1/2" square steel stock and cut them 2" tall. I painted them black, picked up some longer bolts and raised the seat up. It's still comfortable, the tube fits, and I have a little more room for storage. Hope this helps

Dan

I actually just did that today at work. Had a little time to kill so I wasted it the best way I know how, customizing my RIG. What did you use to get the back brackets to hold in place? How much clearance do you have above the box to the seat? Did you have to cut off the support brace under the seat to get it to fit better? And most importantly how does it sound? :bandito:

For the back brackets, I just don't even use them. The bracket holes don't line up. So I just have 6 bolts holding the back seat in. But it holds really good...I gave it the final seat-truck shake test to make sure I was happy with it. I didn't have to cut the cross brace. At first, I wasn't too happy ith the bass tube, but after tweaking the amp gains and the tube gains I have it where it sounds really good. I'd like to have a little more thump out of it, but it sounds nice.

Would it be easy/possible to just take the frame out and replace it with a sub enclosure? Then just mount the seat to the box.

Thumbs up

I wanted something safe because I have a new addition to my family and I don't want him going anywhere if you know what I mean. I have managed to get some bigger U bolts made up and installed the with a 2" hunk of steel to match the side lifts and it works really well. I tried to pull my little brother out of it when he was buckeled in and he wasn't going anywhere. I will post some picks as soon as I can get around to fixing my digital camera. Thanks for everyones help.

I went to a local sheet metal shop and had them fabricate me some. They made me a riser for each side, and an extension for the seat belt brackets. Total cost... $20

I'll post pics tonight if I have a chance.. I used Galvanized washers for mine.. Left overs from building a deck last year! Just happend to fit fine.. Oh, they were 1/2 inch washers, and lifted only about 3/4" for mine.. (Aprox 5)..
