Well maybe i need to go with some speakers that require less power. I was hoping for a good set of speakers that i could run with the alpine unit which has an amp on it at 60w.

I really don't want to run two amps because of lack of space in the vehicle. I just wanted to get a mono amp to push whatever subs i end up using.

What 10 inch sub would you recommend if i was only going to run one? I was looking at a couple of the web sites that make boxes and they do make a single 10in enclosure.

With anything less than 100 watts, here is what i'd suggest.

CDT CL6x
CDT CL5x
CDT CL51
CDT CL61

Look at Focals as well. Unless you have a high end shop or friend that has these, your going to be hard pressed to hear any of these anywhere. Just keep in mind you are looking at the bottom line of a high end manufaturer.

I have a set of Diamond M3 5x7 coax installed right now and they are not bad. Not the best imaging speaker i've ever heard but they were reasonably priced and sound pretty clean at mid to low volumes with everything from my stock deck to 100 RMS a side. Also take a look at Alpine Type R. They sound alright as well. My biggest gripe with either of these speakers is that by the time you get the sound your looking for, it always seems like the tweets are trying to take your head off. The 9815 does have an EQ so that may not be as big of issue to you. With the 04, i'd suggest getting the comps because you have a great spot in your door panels for them.

If your not looking for really loud bass and want something that sounds really clean and tight, you ought to think about running multiple RE8's. Four would definatley do the trick if you wanted to use the entire area under the back seat for just subs. Though dupris is running 2 and thinks the world of them. The reason is you are going to be able to fit a louder, more acurate sub going this way as compared to what you have to choose from in the 10" flavor. Plus you would be able to get 16"-32" of speaker face going this route. If you run 2, you could get away with putting an amp rack on your box so you would have room to give the fronts some power. 100-250 watts a side on the front is what you really want for clean, accurate midrange and unbelievable highs.

Pretty sure the JL 10W3 fits, Audiobahn has the AW310T that has pretty decent specs though i've never heard one. Saw em on e-bay for the $175 range. Look for something with a mounting depth of less than 5". There are not many high power "if that's what your looking for" 10" subs with 5" mounting depth on the market that fit under our back seats. Yes all the box sites can do it in any combo. Just got to tell em what you want.

Good luck with your system.

Well after pouring over option after option here is what i think i'm going to do....

Alpine 9815
CDT Component Speakers
RE 8in Subs
Hifonics BX1500D Amp
Hifonics ZX6400 4ch Amp
Some sort of speakers for the rear door once i look into that more.

I love Dupuis' setup in his truck so i based my ideas off what he's done. I thought i'd either find or have someone help me build a box for the back seat that covers the 60% area and place the subs under the 40% section of seat.

I was thinking of maybe putting the subs on a thin piece of wood and using velcro to attach it to the carpet(I don't want to screw into the body of my truck).

I wanted a new headunit though that played mp3s so I went with the Alpine head unit. I know the Mono sub is way more than I need for those 2 8s but i figured if i got it i should never have to buy an amp for subs again

Any and all criticism is welcome

Mike

Nice choices. You should look into the image enhancement tweets
tw-20 or tw-25 that will go onto your x-overs with the HD 62's. I'd take the time to do that before messing with the rear fill. That Zeus amp running bridged into your 62's with image enhancement would be the ticket. 350 RMS a side is very nice!

I'm confused??? If your talking about keeping the box secure, look into getting some nylon strap, connect it to the box and go around the rear seat bottom bracket. It is under the seat back and you probably can't see it but you can feel it when you slide your hand back in between the rear seat bottom and back. Will keep it from chasing you out of the windshield if it ever came to that type of situation.

The Zeus will fit under your passenger seat and the Brutus will fit in the box under the back seat. If you are installing this yourself plan spending another $200 on wire, connectors, distro blocks, etc.

Have fun and good luck with your system.

No i'm not worried about keeping it secure I just don't want to drill into my truck. I'd rather screw the amps into a thin piece of wood and on the otherside put velcro all over it so that it would stick to the carpet(If velcro will stick to the carpet). That should keep it from moving and prevent me from drilling into the floorboard of the truck.

I'd also suggest going with the RE SE to handle that kind of power and are also nice because they have great Frequency responses in small sealed enclosures. Just make sure on the mounting depth before you get them.
The SE's don't come in 8 inch. The smallest I saw on their website were 10 inch. I don't think i have room for 2 10s under that one side.

I see what your saying. Take a look at https://www.f150online.com/galleries...w.cfm?num=5762

Amp racks are the way to go. If you do it right, you may even get some etra air space for your drivers if you need it.

I'm not following you again. What great deal and what prices are you looking at?

You need to e-mail HOS or Roush to get the deal prices that this thread reffers to. You cannot get Alpine Type R 5"x7" coaxs from a shop for less than the HD's in this deal.

Yes that's what i've done. I've emailed them to find out if those component speakers are still available. That's why i linked to the EF series which is what the model number was of the speakers that could be gotten for $200 plus shipping.

Sorry didn't mean to make it sound so confusing.

thanks

Mike

SilverFX4, Just so you know, I don't have anything screwed down in my truck. For the amp under the pass. seat I took some long screws and filed a point on them so the amp stays in place. I did this just on the front 2 mounting holes of the amp. The back of the amp sits on top of the vent under there. The other reason I did this on that amp is so it sits up so the vent under there can still blow out under the amp.
For the amp under the rear seat. I made brackets that had holes on both ends. I bent them to look like a Z. I screwed the amp to the board and the board to the brackets I made. I than bolted the whole thing using the holes and the bolts from the jack bracket that was in that spot.
The sub box fits nice and tight over the hump and where the part is that the subs are mounted. Using that leg on the end of the box makes its fit tight on that end too. It also holds the box up giving the subs enough room to move.
No need to screw anything anywhere. Nothing moves. Just make sure you build your box with the angle that the seat has. Wider in front then in the back.
By the way those 2 RE8s are plenty for me. I have out done systems with 10'' subs with mine. Just depends how much bass your looking for.
Good luck!!

That setup sounds nice. I also have the HiFonics BX1500D and I love it. Awesome power for little money. If you haven't already bought that amp or you don't have a good source for it let me know, I got mine for around $290, new and authorized.

HOSRACN,

Wow thanks!! No i haven't bought the amp yet. I was waiting on opinions before i bought anything. I'd really appreciate the help on the amp. It's really nice of you to do. By chance is the deal on the CDTs for 200 still out there as well? I'd like those too. Just tell me what I need to do. If you need an email address mine is mstevenson1@nc.rr.com

thanks

Mike

I suggest starting off with a set of HD-62 and a set of TW-25/LP Image Enhancement System. See what you think and if you still feel the need for rear fill then look into CL-6x. This is assuming you have a couple hundred watts to throw at the front and at least deck power for the rear. If your looking to run movies in Dolby, you would want something a bit more like the EF convertible with another 200 watts. You won't be dissapointed in these speakers.

How much power do I really need? I have an 800W or 600 amp in my sister's truck that I can use.
