Smile Focals and Qforms installed!

Finally finished installing my Qform kick panels and 6.5 Focal Polykevlar components. Brrrrrrrrrr finished at sunset- outside 38 deg. and dropping! in West Central Georgia. I am upgrading from 5x7 Infinity Kappa's 572.5 ref. I've had less than 30 mins listening time as of this writing so here is my initial response. 1- large gain in mid bass, 2-highs remain equal(Infinity tweeter was very nice) 3-Much more headroom to crank.... if that's yo' thing. 4- soundstage/imaging is much better, near the center of the dash. Lesson learned so far- If you don't like to experiment just slap some QUALITY coaxials in the door and enjoy. Otherwise go for it and modify ! Amped Focals with a bridged US Acoustic 4ch.- 120 w rms x 2. I think some tweaking will get the imaging nailed. I don't think I can adjust my balance with my current amp setup but I'll research it more.

Sweet. Thats a nice setup. Would like to see some pics of your final product.
What did you have to do to get the 6.5's to fit? Was is a big hassle?
Now I'm really thinking about getting me some kicks!!
Sounds like that is the way to go.

Probably the most important thing you said

Glad your enjoying the kicks. I was sure you would, just takes quite a bit of playing around with them to get them just right.

Cool Qform/6.5 fitting

Bighorn- Not too much hassel fitting the 6.5's. Just place the speaker against the rear of the Qform and mark the holes with a Sharpie marker. Look where they are noting that you have enough clearance to accomadate the screw heads on the front of the Qform. I used the speaker gasket as a template on the front to trace the cutout, then removed it with a Dremel no sweat. Same with the tweets. Takes bout an hour for both pods from start to mounted.
