Player, Are you going to use them with a HU, with separate amp/amps, with a subwoofer system? These things should be taken into consideration, in my opinion.

ok so these are my overall plans:

right now i plan to buy two sets of speakers with the $250 i have
and i am looking for suggestions
these speakers will be installed with the stock HU
in the next 6 months i plan on buying a new HU then an under the seat enclosure that holds 2 12" subs and the amplifier will go underneath one of the front two seats

those are the plans and they prolly wont be altered due to the amount of money flowing in. So right now any suggestions on the best speakers that i can get two sets of for under $250 would be greatly appreciated. Also there is still the question of will i need to buy anything else to install the speakers and am i correct in saying that the speakers are 5x7?

If you got that much to spend, you are throwing it away buying 2 ways, or 3 ways. get 5.25" , or 6.5 " component sets. You can get adapters at www.mjmautoinnovations.com/speakeradapters

Player, If you intend to buy all this other equipment in the near future my suggestion is to either buy your equipment along as you get the money and wait and install everything at once, or save your money and buy everything at once. And if you want to spend $250 dollars on your main speakers you would have a much more "high end" system if you bought ONE set of very nice components and installed them properly. Rear speakers are a waste of time in terms of sound quality, especially if you install TWO sets of 2 or 3-ways. Granted, you could buy TWO pretty nice pairs of $250, but you can get some Focals or MBQuarts or some such thing for $250. And they will blow away any TWO pairs of 2 or 3-way ever made. What specific speakers you buy depends a lot on your tastes and what other equipment you plan to add in the future. Just my opinions.

so basically u guys are saying the rear speakers are pointless. and that i should just go ahead and buy a set of component speakers, which will give me better sound quality than 2 sets of 3 way speakers. i know a bit about them but not much so here are a few more questions.

What exactly are component speakers (ex. i know 3 way speakers are mad up of the tweeter, sub, etc..but what are the parts of the component speakeris what i am asking basically)?
What size speaker should i be getting now (i go the info ion those speaker adapters)?
Who should i be buying form that will give me the best deal at $250?
Will they be much more difficult to install than regular speakers?

Thanx for all ur guys help

The separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers in a component system give you better power handling and performance than most 2- or 3-way speakers. Also, you can improve the stereo imaging in your car depending on where you mount tweeter separates you would probably want to go 5 1/4..
As far as where to buy look at www.crutchfield.com for info and more. And once you find some you like shop around you will definetly find better prices. you can make you own adapter bracket or buy them online. if you do buy from crutchfield you get free adapter brackets.

Here is a decent sounding entry level component set for $100.

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=0&cc=01&avf=N

Here is a decent 12" sub for $50.

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=0&cc=01&avf=N

Here is an entry level decent 4 ch amp for $130.

Now, all you would need is speaker lead to RCA adapter, amp install kit and about $30 in materials to build your own sub box. The sound a small system like this would give you would be far greater than any factory system. It will not be competition level but it would sound great for the money and provided you aren't trying to let the world hear you coming from a mile away would probably do everything you need.

Total cost for all the components in this system (leaving out install materials) comes to a mere $280. See I can keep you within your budget you wanted to alot for 2 pair of speakers and basically give you an entire system that is more catered to your budget and is sure to please both financially and sonically. You don't have to spend a fortune to get good quality sound. You do have to spend a fortune if you want the best of everything and want to compete against others. Let your needs be your guide.

Player, Component speakers have true separate drivers and crossovers for more strategic, quality installation possibilities. Of course, like all car audio, there are different levels of quality within this type of speaker. The major quality differences are obvious, better drivers and crossover parts. So not just any component set will necessarily be better than some of the top 2 or 3 ways. Some are pretty bad. There are some 5x7/6x8 components you might want to look at. That would eliminate any adapter worries. Kicker and MBQuart make this size. Take a look at http://www.infinitecaraudio.com. They have some decent deals. I saw a special on a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 6.5 component set for $75, regularly $200. They also have a nice MBQuart DSE213 5.25 set for $118. And the Kicker 5x7 component set is $129, regularly $250. And according to their site, they are an authorized dealer unless a specific item says NOT. That means manufacturers warranty. They also have some good deals on amps, etc. I have not ordered from them myself, so maybe some others can shed some light on them, as far as how they are to deal with. As far as installation, the 2 and 3-ways are drop-in replacements. That's the reason they are so common, but that's also one reason they suffer quality-wise. The components will take more time to install, but the extra effort will be worth it in the long run. In car audio installations, it is very common for people to get impatient and start cutting corners and quality of sound and installation suffer. Like I mentioned before, I would wait until I got all of my equipment together and do a proper install. In my mind that would include removing what needs to be removed(seats, door panels, carpet, etc.), and spend a few days doing things correctly. But that's your call. It depends on how important things are to you. We all place different importance on different things.
