Question Box Related

Ya I know this is f150, but it seemed like a good place for information. I have a 88' Dodge Dakota. I have a bench seat that folds down to access behind it and thats where I currently want to put my subs. I have two 5.25in subs and a 6.5in sub. I have minimal space, but enough to build a box and use these subs I figure. I will have to measure the dimensions of the space behind the seat, but if Im right and they will situate themselves in a custom made box I make...would it be better to place them facing backwards towards the back of the cab (no backseats or anything, they'd face back wall of cab) or towards the seats? Which would produce a better feel of the subs? Any suggestions would help. And also, I've been told I might be able to hook the smallers ones up directly to my cd player since they are small, any ideas on this also? (I have room for amp if I end up needing one).

First, in a pickup forward facing is generally the best way to go. Some folks have them firing up or down under the bench seat. Rear facng works better in the trunk of a car. That's all genereal of course. If you want a real answer you have to test the subs or find someone with a similar setup to listen to.

Second, I wouldn't hook up the subs directly to the cd player. Even if they are small enough you still won't have any control over what and how much sound you put through them. With an amp you can adjust the volume level independant of the CD player. Some amps also allow you to boost or controll the low frequencies to make the subs work more effeciently. Finally, a good amp will generate more power and better power than your cd player could even come close to.

You should have the room for a wedge style truck box ....I think that truck has about the same room as the older s10 .I have used the probox 1-10spb in s10s alot and you would not believe how much bass you can get from this thing and have room for the amp on the rear wall also.....I am guessing that you have a reg cab? the box is roughly 14 H x 30 W 8 at bottom and 5 top with high velocity port out the side
