subs in lightning?

ok, ive looked around, couldnt really find what i was lookin for. I want one 12 in my truck.. I dont really care about subbing out the neighborhood, just a little more kick would be nice. and a pair of tweeters, and an amp to go along as well, all while keeping the factory head unit. can this be done? i dont want an expensive sub, just a good quaity one that wont be pushed very hard. any suggestions on boxes (seat MUST go all the way back), amps, tweeters and a 12 sub to top it off? i dont know anything about audio systems, so i thought i would post to make sure how much i should pay for all of that stuff above, installed(dont trust myself with electical stuff)

thanks in advance

-Alan

You can keep the stock deck but would be better of going with an aftermarket. You just need an amp with high (speaker) level inputs or just pick up a line output converter and you can use any amp.

You would be better off grabbing a set of 6x8 coaxial speakers rather than just adding tweeters.

Box will need to be custom made.

Talking hey allen!

Heres a site to look at,
www.ikesound.com
Great deals here, wont find the subbox tho, you could try checking out subbox.net or proboxrocks.com See what they had.
As for the amp I would say Ike sound has good deals but no real high end stuff, so it should be what your looking for. Try checking out rockford Fosgate amps and subs, or Hifonics for an amp, and maybe infinity for a sub and (speakers).
You should replace the 6x8's either with a round component set or just some sweet co-axials like infinity makes.
Infinity makes a component set with 6X8 midbass. Interesting.
anyway just some advice.
Let me kno how you make out.

A truck with out tunes is no fun for road trips!

if your good at wood working make your own. Its not all that hard, just get some MDF board, half inch will probably do you fine, but get 3/4 in if you can. Its about 15 bucks for a 8x4 which is more than enough. Measure 10 times, cut once. Then go to an audio shop to get the felt you want, cut the proper holes and so forth, and your done. For sticking the pieces together i've heard liquid nail but i personally would do that and some solid brakets.

Pretty much the only tools you need is table saw and a jigsaw, maybe a power drill with a circular blade. Oh and clamps too

nah

i like the look of that thunderform box. i probably could pull off making a box, but i want everything in my truck done to where it looks professional, and if I made it i will look jerry-rigged.

I wouldn't bother replacing the rear speakers. Put that $ towards a good component set for up front. It's been done many times and there are quite a few good threads if you use the

dont buy sony 6x8's they sound weak.

I bought some Pioneers, and they push out some nice base for only buying the front two(after I blew the stock ones)

www.proboxrocks.com has a new single 10" ported box for the regular cab F-150's. I bought one for $300 shipped including their house brand speaker. It hits really hard for a single 10 and sounds very clean.

I'm not sure if they have a picture of it up yet. Here is a pic of it in my truck:

Second Pic

I want to eventually paint the box to match the grey interior.

Speaker Strategy

I agree on not replacing rear spkrs. I put Infinity 572.5 cf in my front doors and am very happy. I used the factory deck for a while then a Pioneer MP5500 for a while, then amp'd them . They were a worthy upgrade in all these phases. IMHO you need good high/mid response to balance the low end. You can find them for ~$90 on Ebay. I bought mine from Crutchfield because they have plug n play speaker connectors. Good Luck on your upgrade !
