Post Sonic Perfection FAQ's

I have heard from people asking about how to achieve excellence in sound reproduction and after much thought on the matter have drawn the following conclusion. In order to achieve the best sound you will need to know what accurate playback sounds like.

What does perfect sound reproduction sound like and how do you achieve it?

Perfect sound would be a perfectly flat sound curve and time alignment for all frequencies would exist. If you are curious as to what this sounds like to yourself, you could achieve this by using a set of headphones that have a frequency response from 14hz-20Khz. Next, using an RTA and pink noise set them to a flat curve. Once you have this done have your hearing checked through all frequency ranges and make EQ adjustments again using pink noise and RTA to make the corrections to the playback curve so that it will perfectly match your hearing curve. Once you have all of this done find a top quality recording and listen to it on those balanced for your hearing headphones and you will hear the as close as possible reproduction of sound that was true to the original performance. You will need to beware of many recordings however since they will be recorded and pre-equalized using someone else's perception of good sound. I suggest using a recording by Sheffield Labs or Telarc. After doing all of this and hearing what as close to perfect playback as you can get sounds like it will help you to tune your own system. Just be forewarned that once you actually do this and hear music as it was originally played it will be difficult for you to obtain it in a car/truck do to serious problems with reflections of sound off of all the glass and plastic present in a car. Now being that not one person out there has the same exact hearing curve as yourself this will only sound perfect to the listener it is tuned to.

Hopefully this will help some of you seeking audiophile quality sound systems in your trucks. Maybe it will even enlighten a few minds in the process. Truth be told, if you have no reference to compare to identical results will be virtually impossible to achieve.

Ideas, questions, comments or concerns are welcomed.
