Talking Update: new subs on the way

I am one happy camper...

I spoke with the CEO of Elemental Designs (eD) today. Since they messed up and didn't ship my subs out last week, he is going to upgrade me (for free) to the new e12k's. This is awesome!

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about...I originally purchased the "old style" e12k's. The subs had a factory defect (from the build house) and I sent them back to eD.

Here is a link to the new 12k's...

I need to get the mounting depths of the K series and O series 10's... they don't have them published on the website.
I'm considering some system upgrades.. the first one being building a new sub box. I wanted to see if I could fit the K or O 10 in there.. but no mounting depth.

I'll probably keep my EVO for a while longer, however. Start with changing my box design to maybe a downfire.. try it out. Then swap my Focal's out for some CDT Audio HD series components. I'll have to upgrade my amps too if I do the component swap and eventually do the sub change.

This "HOBBY" never ends. I've had my current system for right at a year now.. and ready to try to achieve even better sound quality now. LOL I know my brother will like it if I upgrade my stuff.. I'll give him what I take out probably.

Sounds good on the upgrade for free 2Trucks.. can't beat that. Always helps when the Big Whigs get in there and really try to take care of their customers. Looks good for the company, despite the delayed shipment you had.

Just curious as to how the ED subs and their amps compare to say Orion equipment (I have good experience with this brand). Are they oriented more to acoustical type performance or power hungry music, like Rap? Thier prices look pretty good, especially on the amps. I've seen too many manufacturers that tout a 1000W amp when it can't out perform a 150W Orion HCCA amp.

Man, I wish I had a grand to blow on a nice system for my wife's King Ranch

Their subs have really nice SQ with plenty of output...so to answer your question; both.

At this time they do not have any amps, the amps they sell are owned by Avionix...eD just sells them. I don't have any experience with Avionix amps, so I can't talk about them.

Update for those who care...the subs came in yesterday! I ordered a new amp for them today (Planet Audio TT850D). All that is left is to build a new box. I'll probably take a day off next week to get it done. I haven't had bass in my truck for 4 months...I can't wait!
