door panel removal ?

OK,

I asked this question elsewhere, since I will be replacing my mirrors soon...but anyone here who knows can help too. I will eventually be replacing my door speakers and may even do so when the door panel is off.

So, what is the inside scoop on how I get these removed?

Thanks

The front doors on my '99 XLT were ridiculously easy. These are the instructions from Crutchfield.

1) Pry off the 'sail' panel - the plastic triangle up near the mirror.

2) Pry off the edge trim at the rear of door window. Underneath the edge trim are some 'press in style' retaining clips. These are removed by gently pushing in the center button, then prying the clip up from the edge.

3) Pry out the screw cover on the door panel, located behind the door release handle. Loosen but do not fully remove the 5/16" bolt inside the door cavity until the door release handle becomes loose. Pull handle out of panel.

4) Slide entire door panel upward, remove and disconnect electrical connectors.

I have the "old fashioned" roll down windows, is there simply a clip there holding that in place?

Thanks for the reply.

What year is your truck?

I noticed the instructions I posted above were for '97 - '98; the '99+ have no sail panel and a few other differences.

Here is how it says to remove the '99 door panels:

1)If manual windows, pry out window crank cover and rotate cover slightly to expose screw. Remove Torx T-20 screw.

2) Pry off edge trim at rear of window. Remove 1 phillips screw exposed by edge trim.

3) Pry out door release trim starting at notch in the lower front area of trim to release retaining clips.

4) Remove 1 phillips screw exposed by removal of door release trim.

5) If equpped with power options, pry up power options switch panel and disconnect harnesses, remove panel.

6) Pull door panel up and out, disconnect courtesy light harness.

It's been a few years since I did my '99 w/power windows, but it was super easy with the instructions.

Thanks again, sounds super easy. I have a 2001 Supercab, but hey...look at it in my gallery!
