Both of the head units were direct connect to the XM receiver via Ai cable. I used the Alpine TUA-T020XM tuner that was made for the Alpine head units that were XM ready so it was plug and play simple. It was also put into the Alpine FM modulator kits for non XM ready HU`s. When I bought mine it was over 250 for the receiver(XM) alone but I was able to get the whole FM modulator kit with the receiver on sale for 99.00 at crutchfield. I kept the XM tuner and sold all of the FM modulator parts and remote for 50 so it only cost me 50 for the same tuner they wanted 250+ for alone I have yet to install the 9813 in my truck and I`ve had it for 6 mths but it connects the same to the XM unit. The 7875 HU has been a great unit as long as I`ve had it and hate to upgrade it yet

Alpines been good for me here too.
Do you mean the 9831?

Well, this is the setup I am looking at:

Nope I mean the 9813 as the box is still sitting here next to my desk. Its almost the same as the 9815 model they also had. I only bought it due to MP3 capability in the head unit itself but play more in my iPod than the truck Plus I listen to XM almost 80% of the time now.

Its a older unit from last year but here is a link to a site I found it on:
http://www.carreview.com/CD,Receiver...8_2861crx.aspx

Here is the link to the xm tuner. Looks like its no longer available:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5bOzQhD...sp?i=500T020XM

And I used the terk low profile antenna

Looks like a sweet set up your going for. It should sound really good when installed. If you have not planned on it I would also replace the speakers. I did the HU first and it sounded good, added the speakers and it got much better and then put in the amp and it sounds awesome. The XM addition was the icing on the cake

Not sure how this company is in its reputation but they will have your adapter on the 1st.

One more question, how is the xm radio reception in these parts? Must be good if you listen 80%.

I have never lost signal in NC yet driving around. I have lost it for a few seconds in our trips to NY. Our route takes us in the mountains in PA and in some of the dips and curves going downhill it got lost for a very few seconds. I think because of the rock walls, trees and inclines the line of sight to the sats was lost. It came right back on within a few seconds.
Of course you will lose signal in your garage, parking decks and etc wherever you block your antenna overhead like that.

Hey bird hunter, welcome to the board! 2000fordstyle has quite a list of mods close to your year truck. Take a look at my gallery, I have a few mods as well. There is plenty of good info on this forum. I am sure someone on here has a mod that will empty your wallet.

BTW, what and where do you bird hunt?

Thanks for the tip, i actually don't hunt, my girlfriend has a 2001 WS6 firebird, and i told her as soon as i get my truck i will be hunting her down. LOL, her family has been into cars and doing different mod's to them, i figured i would do something different. Her dad has a 2004 Corvette, and we are both looking forward to doing some things to this truck.
