Issue w/ Obtaining TX DL

Has anyone had any issues with Texas DPS in regard to obtaining a Driver License after the new rules took effect?

I am having a problem with the "2 documents" as all my mail goes to a PO Box and nothing has my physical address on it.....

The lady asked, "do you live in your PO Box?"
I responded, "Yes i do!"

I too love giving smartass answers to smartass questions....

I would assume it has to do with all the illegal immigrants...Possibly a measure to help combat it--as far as DPS wanting a physical address...Just get a physical address of your buddies in TX and give that to them. But make sure its an address where you can get your DL later because they will mail it there!

That is one of the many sites describing the changes.

I have an address in Texas. Have for the past 3 years. Problem is, there list of "approved items" all have my PO Box address and they need a physical address. With out it, according to the DPS office in Midland, I can not prove my residency in Texas. Im going to go by the Big Spring office tomorrow and see if I get a different result.

I totally understand and support the why behind it. It was just completely frustrating when I was following their rules and not getting anywhere because I do not have a real physical address.

For the record, this is the address as it appears on my now current TX license:

XXXXX rd, 1 mile north IHXX, SE/RR

Sometimes people that live in the city forget about those of us that live out in BFE... Your USPS mail delivery and city water/trash!!

Only 4 trips to DPS. Now I'm officially a Texan!

ummm.. No, that won't work. The physical address as it appears on the license MUST be on the supporting documents proving Texas residency.
