ALLOUT OFFROAD in Richmond, TX...

Anyone have any experience with these guys, they are probably going to do my lift kit for me.. I was quoted $2500.00 for the fabtech 6" kit installed, alignment included. I then checked into gears and whether or not there would be a discount to install them. You know, since the axles would be out anyway and nada. The guy told me full price ($1900 )... So when I get gears, I guess I'll do it elsewhere. Since he's not willing to deal. Has anyone gotten a lift installed here?

Thanks,
TA

They did my truck when my dad had it.
They charged WAY too much for it and I believe took advantage of my dad at the time, old man but a good one.

Have you shopped at places like 4Wheel Parts. I am not sure how good they are but it would be worth a look for pricing purposes.

How do shops charge these rates, I think I'd feel real bad every time I tried to double my profit on an install.

I just about fell over when I hear $1900.00. I got 4.10 gears, including parts and labor installed on my mustang for $500.00. That included a new speedo gear and a little muffler welding... The guy didn't seem to think it was high....

you only did a gearswap on one axle whereas a 4wd has two axles it needs to regear if it plans on engaging 4x4. But $500 is still a great price for one axle.

Yeah, I know that. But my point, which I didn't make very clearly was - $1000 seems reasonable, not double that.

I wouldn't let them do my lift if they are going to try to screw you on the gears like that. Call Four Wheel Parts over on the 610 Loop by Reliant. They're good people and will definitely give you a better deal.

$1500 is about the middle ground on gears.

Several guys in TX4X4, and the Texas chapter of another forum site have clued me in to Creative Engineering Off Road (CE Off Road) in Conroe. They quoted me $2k for gears, AND Truetracs on both ends. I believe The Shop in League City is about the same...

Just steer clear of 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers.

If that is true than thats one hell of a deal. Those TrueTrac units are about $800 for the pair plus about $800 in gears etc. So they were going to do the install for less than $600. WOW.

Why steer clear of 4WP? I don't know about where you live but the Orlando and Jacksonville stores in Florida do quality work.

The 4WP on south 610 in Houston has done some gears from folks I know, and they have had broken teeth, bearings installed wrong, etc... Poor quality workmanship.

Thanks,

Totally tried to rip me off. Sent known damaged goods and then tried to lie about it. Gave me the run around for over two months. Customer service is the worst!
