More HP (2004 f150 4.6)

So I have a 2004 f150 4.6 V8 2wd and I'm trying to do everything possible to get it sounding nice and driving fast. I need some help on fixing or upgrading what I can to increase hp and make it pur. Let's assume everything is old and sucks on it. I have done some work but would still like to know short of a turbo or supercharger what I can do to beef her up?

A tuner is about it and it will boost the power noticeably. Exhaust mods and cold air intakes are a waste of money for power increase.

Ok any recommendations on brands I've looked into those but don't want to spend 500 on one that does the same as a 200 dollar one. Also as far as sensors and bolt on parts anything you know of that would help the air to fuel ratio which in my opinion will increase hp, given my truck is an 04, or at least help it run better.

I recommend a SCT programmer with custom tunes from one of the reputable tuning houses. Take a look through our programmers forum.

Intake: Just do a Gotts mod to the stock airbox. Check out our Articles forum.

Exhaust: Won't help performance but if you want noise, go for it.

Otherwise, just make sure all preventive maintenance is done properly and well.
