Another question about tuners

I saw a post earlier about the predator, I didn't want to steal someone elses thread so I made this one

Close yer mouth, plug yer left nostril and then go fer a 100-yard sprint - how do you feel?

Good luck.

I read this, I don't have any mods to my truck, so would buying a superchips mod be more advisable, and less of pain in the keaster?

More advisable? Not really.

Less of a pain in the keaster? Well, if you feel that calling a reputable tuner, providing information about your truck (hex code, GR, TS), explaining what you want from your truck, and waiting a week or so (average time for VMP and 5Star based on the current threads) is a pain, then yes. Obviously, there are other tuners, but their lead times are longer.

However, if you want the most from your truck (safely) and quality and timely customer support, then custom tunes from a reputable tuner is the way to go.

I just don't know what this Y restriction is he was talking about, or if it's a huge problem to remove... I'm seriously looking into getting a tuner, but I'm so torn on which one to get. I've been leaning towards the predator.

He's talking about the Y pipe in the stock exhaust. Search or read through the exhaust forum and you'll find most of the exhuast experts (I'm not one or even close to one, BTW) will recommend an X pipe.

Now, if you want the ultimate exhaust:

FWIW, this was designed and is endorsed by MGDFan.

very nice design there MGD!

Alright, so..... will the diablo tuner not benefit me without fixing the exhaust? I'm assuming shift points and all that would help, but that would be a beneficial change

A tuner will benefit all trucks. Simply put, canned tunes are good; custom tunes, even without performance mods, are better.

Here's some good reading.

Those are great pictures, MGD. The "stang" is good, but the "cookin' while driving" one took me back to my Air Force days when I was an ALO (Air Liaison Officer) to the Army. You could stick a can of beans, stew, whatever (opened of course) on the engine of your jeep which had to be running to power your radios (or on the generator if you were in place for a while) and presto! You had a hot meal while you were working an air strike. Didn't get any better than that.
