I was contemplating doing the swap myself also but the telescoping tow mirrors do not have the self tinting driver's side mirror like my stock mirrors have and I really have grown to like that feature.

Mine just arrived and I opened them up to inspect them. They arrived just fine. Man, these things are huge! I am going to have to wait for better weather to install them, though. It's raining today.

Installed !!!

UPS delivered my mirrors yesterday afternoon, and I installed them last night. The only problem that I ran into was moving that one pin in the wiring harness connector. I worked on it for about 45 minutes, but I just couldn't get the pin to come out of the connector. I used micro screwdrivers, awls, paper clips, etc...it just wouldn't come out... But it would push THROUGH the connector. So I cut the ground wire, pushed it out THROUGH the connector, then put it in the correct pin location, and soldered it back together. Worked like a charm!

I did NOT wire up the puddle lamps, as I have the "connector" type of wiring loom from the door to the cab. And I don't feel like fussing with trying to get a wire through there without screwing something up.

Impressions: Great visibility! Although it's going to take me a few days to get used to them. I went from the Schafenacker TTT mirrors (freaking motorcycle knocked it off!), to the OEM mirrors, to these. These things are huge compared to the OEM, but actually don't stick out as far as the Schafenacker mirrors. Plus they're more stable (less flutter) than the Schafenacker's. So all-in-all, I'm very pleased with them. Now I just need to get out my travel trailer and tow it! Need to find time first.

On this topic, does anyone have a good idea on how to run the wire for the puddle lamp? Again, I have the stupid "connector" style; it's not just the normal grommet and loom. I know that some have drilled a small hole in both sides of the connector, and then run a wire through the hole. But then that would defeat the purpose of having the connector (being able to quickly disconnect), right? I've also thought about drilling a separate hole in the door and body, and installing grommets and a loom. But I want it to look totally factory OEM. Comments or ideas???

I don't know if that is you or not, but there is a classified add for towing mirrors, asking $345 + shipping. With Tasca now selling brand new ones for $134, there's no way that guy is going to get $345 for his pair.

Again, don't know if this is you... but I was working with a member a few weeks ago to buy his take-off towing mirrors. I think I was going to pay $350 (before Tasca's price drop). But the killer was going to be the shipping. It was going to cost me $72 to have them shipped. With Tasca, the shipping was only $31. That means that I got my brand new mirrors, delivered to my door, for $300.

I had the same problem, except mine pulled loose from the connector. I all did was "redneck" wire it for now by just pushing the exposed wire end through the 16 pin connector to the mirror and held it in place with electrical tape. Sometime I will fix it right but for 3 weeks now its been working just fine.

what i did was, i drilled a hole right beside the connector, making sure nothing was behind it of course, and then added gromets, sp, to the holes to protect it and ran the wires in some loam, sp again, to inside the truck and tied in under the driver door sill. as for coming out of the door, i just made a lil slit in the rubber loam, sp again, and wrapped it in electrical tape to hold it in place.......kinda riggin' it, but it worked.....
