Labman, I have a question, if you know. My truck is a 2004 F150 FX4 4x4 Power only, no heat or signal. I instaled the mirrors, changed the pins, wired the puddle lamps, changed the the fuse box to the heated mirror option. The power mirror, turn singal, and puddle lamps work fine. When I checked in to get a control module with the heated mirror button. I found that the 2004 with heated back window came with 4L3Z19980FB, When I orded the told me that I needed 7L3Z19980D and said that both the FB and the OD have been crossed over to the 4L3H-19808-BH, When installed the mirrors, turn signals, puddle lamps. and heated mirrors all work fine, but the ac selector for defrost. floor, vents etc.. does not work right. Any idea what would be wrong. Thanks

These mirrors are great! Thanks for the tips on this thread - the install was a breeze.

TIP - for the puddle lights on a 2005 XLT, tap into the black wire with blue stripe that is in the bundle dropping from the dash to the BIG 53-pin connector (C238) behind the hood release handle bracket. That wire runs to pin 6 in the BIG connector (6-spaces up from the lower left corner of the connector). Undo the single bolt holding the hood release for lots of easy access room to make that connection for the puddle lamps - they'll behave like your delay shut-off dome lights.

BIG KUDOs for Tasca/Domenic: One of my mirrors arrived damaged; Dom shipped the replacement immediately and included the pre-paid return label for the broken item in that box. That is GREAT SERVICE.

Just got my mirrors and thought I'd share.

Here is the easiest way to remove the wire from the harness.
1- Unplug harness
2- I removed the red cover on the front, but probably isn't necessary
3- Insert .035" wire into back side of wire you want to remove. Notice the relief in the harness?
4- With the wire inserted, gently pull on the wire and it'll come out.
5- Look at the orientaion of the adjacent pins and push it into the desired location

I used a Snap On pin extractor set borrowed from a friend, but anything that approximate size should do. A safety pin, music wire, a drill bit etc...
It'll take you seconds once you try it.

Domenic,

Do you have the powerfold version of these mirrors as well? My '07 has them, but I would like to upgrade to the Trailer tow. Thanks in advance.

Mike

I was so sure I saw a power folding mirror on an F-150 commercial the other day... but I just checked the website (http://www.fordvehicles.com/2009f150/) and it shows this same ('08) towing mirror and the copy says

"
Available on the new ’09 F-150 are manually
Telescoping/ Folding Trailer Tow Mirrors with large
viewing areas to let you see around and behind a large
trailer. They inspire confidence whether you’re towing or
not.

"

must have been a tricky camera angle or pan.
