F Sirius

I just canceled them last week. I had to get my credit card company on the phone to do it. The rep had the audacity to tell me I verbally agreed to an automatic renewal. I kindly explained to her that my call in March of 11 was to protest the rate increase with out notifying me of said increase. They reverted the charge and gave me 12 months for $90. Wouldn't you know it in March 2012 they hit me fort $174 to renew for a year. I flipped my lid and contested the charge. So the rep tells me all phone calls are recorded and I told her to go pull it. She put us on hold for 4 minutes and then came back with her supervisor and said they would refund the charge and cancel the account (no recording was provided fyi). At no time did they try to keep my business, however in lieu of their practices I would not have accepted any offer. Had I just received an email 30 days prior stating I would be auto debited then this could possibly have been avoided, but I believe it is just a devious practice on their part in hopes that much of it will slip under the radar of its customers, replying solely on apathy or complacency that the charge would not be contested.
I give them the finger.

I love the concept. Too bad it is way over compressed and the business practices...

I had a tuner with a lifetime sub, purchased 3 or so years ago. Sold the radio in Nov 2010. In Feb 2011, I get a letter from a collection agency for $174 that Sirius says I owed them for service!?!

The part that sucks, there is a tuner in my current truck. I keep resisting the use to activate it... Thanx for threads like this to remind me why I dont!!!

My sirius service ended recently too. For the past year, I've had the $77 deal. They tried the automatic renewal for $194, but my credit card had been closed a few months ago due to a hacked account. They called and tried to get me to pay over the phone, but they wouldn't budge on the price. I told them I wasn't interested in renewing, so they tried to make me pay for the extra week that they forgot to shut it off. When asked to talk to a supervisor, they hung up. They called back a week later demanding payment again. I asked for a supervisor and they hung up again. They won't be getting a renewal from me, no matter the price.

I've been listening to my ipod lately with the occasional fm for sports. The difference in sound quality vs sirius is amazing. I don't miss satellite radio much other than the convenience. I'll be happier when I do the usb2 mod. So far I keep forgetting to plug in every time I drive the truck and end up trying to dig the ipod out of my pocket after I have the seatbelt on.

I listen to Iheart radio on my way to work, Pandora on the way home (streaming through bt) and if I get bored with that I hook up my Zune (yea I have a Zune). Sirius keeps mailing me junk and emailing me trying to get me to re-up for another six months for 25 bucks... but it will auto-renew for 195 a year.

I just opened one of those letters about 5 minutes ago. I laughed and threw it in the trash.

I've been listening to iHeartRadio lately too, as long as I'm in an area with decent cell service. Its really nice, and I found a couple of stations I like, including some sports. I miss having the song labels and controls on the radio though. And all of the streaming radio apps cut out a lot near my house. I have my phone set up to automatically activate iHeartRadio whenever it senses my Sync, so I don't have to remember to turn anything on.

I've been doing month to month for years. I want to say around 10 years. They have gone up 10 bucks a month since then, mostly taxes.
